A Taste Of 17543 s always, Taste of Lititz will encourage area residents to visit restaurants located in the 17543 ZIP code, but this year’s event will not be limited to one evening of samples and festivities. Rather, the event will last 10 days and invite residents to visit restaurants within their own comfort zones. “If you don’t feel comfortable dining in, go get takeout,” said Holly DeKarske, executive director of Venture Lititz, who noted that the restaurants are in special need of support. The 2021 Taste of Lititz event will begin, as is tradition, on the first Friday of June, which is June 4, and run through Sunday, June 13. During that time, area residents will be invited to try new restaurants, which have been asked to offer new food items and specials during the event; stroll downtown; visit shops; and hear live musical entertainment each night except Monday, June 7. DeKarske noted that performers will be placed in restaurants, on Main Street, or near the Lititz Springs Park.

Before Project Lifesaver came to Lancaster County on Oct. 20, 2012, an elderly man wandered from his home during the winter. Much effort was put into finding him, but he was not located until a day or two later. He had passed away 250 feet behind his home. “If he would have had a working wristband from Project Lifesaver, we more than likely would have found him,” stated Pilot Club of Lancaster member Cathy Cieslinski. “Project Lifesaver is all about See Project Lifesaver pg 2

The Pennsylvania Dutch Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Wolf Sanctuary of PA have joined forces to hold virtual 5K and 15K events during the month of June. Horse-Shoe Trail District executive Nicole Welch reports that there is a unique connection between the two organizations. “(The sanctuary) is close enough to (Camp Mack) that we can occasionally hear the wolves howling at night,” reported Welch. “Whenever the wolves howl and our Cubs hear it that is really a special moment for them.”
