Abby Musser is a junior at Warwick High School (WHS), and, since she was a freshman, the Ambassador Girl Scout and member of Girl Scout Troop 70256 of Lititz has been working toward earning her Girl Scout Gold Award by completing a project she named “One Swing at a Time.” Inspired by a friend’s son who has alternating hemiplegia of childhood, a neurological condition that causes episodes of paralysis, Musser has been coordinating efforts to bring adaptive swings to Lititz Springs Park. “When he has an episode, he is paralyzed from the neck down with no control of his body,” said Musser. “He is the sweetest little boy, but he couldn’t do things his siblings were doing.” The situation introduced Musser to the need for adaptable See Girl Scout pg 4

Blessings of Hope (BOH), a wholesale food bank located on Becker Road in Leola, started out small. “We started in 2006 in a little garage in Farmersville,” said David Lapp, a representative of the ministry. The group recognized that food that was being wasted could be used to feed people in Lancaster County and beyond, and it eventually developed relationships with more than 80 food producers. “We get semi-truck loads of product, and we

redistribute to food pantries, outreaches, halfway houses, and ministries,” explained Lapp. “We serve the organizations that serve the people that need See Ministry pg 2

Tests, treatments, and cures for the novel coronavirus are advertised online and even by text or phone call, but those products may only leave buyers with less money and no good outcomes. “Fraudsters prey on public fears during times like these,” said Master Trooper Kelly Osborne, community service and public information officer with Troop J - Lancaster of the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). She added that scammers often target seniors, and worry about contracting COVID-19 may cause people to make decisions they would not make in other circumstances.
