Partnership Slates Spring Plant Exchange

The Lititz Historical Foundation and the Lititz Garden Club will hold a plant exchange behind the historical foundation museum (left photo) in the Mary Oehme Gardens (right photo) on May 2.

he last Lititz Historical Foundation, in partnership with the Lititz Garden Club, have scheduled the spring plant exchange for Sunday, May 2, beginning at 1:30 p.m. The event, which will be held rain or shine, will take place, appropriately, in the Mary Oehme Gardens, located behind the foundation’s museum building at 137-145 E. Main St., Lititz. According to Cory Van Brookhoven, president of the Lititz Historical Foundation, the exchange has been a tradition in Lititz for at least 25 years, but the partnership with the garden club does not go back quite that far. The exchange is limited to perennials. Each plant must be marked with an identification tag and placed in a container for easy transportation. Upon arrival, each plant owner will receive a

ticket for each plant he or she brings. Plants will be categorized by sun, shade, exotic, bulbs, herbs, and ground cover. Tickets may be redeemed for another plant after all plants have been placed in categories and attendees have had sufficient time to explore the categories. For the safety of all, organizers request that attendees wear masks during the event and practice social distancing from others while on the museum grounds. Free parking will be available along Main Street. Readers who would like more information about the historical society may visit https://lititz historicalfoundation.com or search for “Lititz Historical Foundation” on Facebook.
