Singers will begin arriving at 6:30 p.m. According to Leaman, about 150 singers from Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties and even out of state typically take part. A Hands-On Fundraiser First Touch-A-Truck Scheduled By Ann Mead Ash
“When my girls were teenagers, we heard of ‘If You Find This Letter,’” said Deanna Riccardelli, a member of More Love Letters Lancaster, referring to a memoir by Hannah Brencher, who began writing letters to strangers in New York City when she found herself struggling emotionally. “She would write the kinds of things she wanted to hear,” explained Riccardelli, noting that Brencher found that sharing and encouraging others helped her out of her own depression. After Brencher wrote about her experiences, she founded The World Needs More Love Letters, and a movement was born. “(I) did this with my daughters six or seven years ago,” recalled Riccardelli. “This is our first Touch-A-Truck, and it’s a great fit for our mission,” said Becca Stamp, development and community relations coordinator with Hands-on
House and one of the organizers of the first Hands-on House Touch-A-Truck fundraiser. “It’s a hands-on activity.” Hands-on House Children’s Museum of Lancaster, 721 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, will hold Touch-A-Truck on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. More than 12 trucks are lined up to be present in the Hands-on House parking See Touch-A-Truck pg 7
Deanna Riccardelli (left), Jennifer Oehme Knepper (center), and Riccardelli’s son, Levi, worked on writing letters of encouragement when More Love Letters Lancaster met on Feb. 22. The group meets monthly for the purpose of supporting those in need of encouragement with handwritten letters.
A fire truck will be among the many vehicles filling the parking lot at the Hands-on House’s first Touch-A-Truck, to be held on April 27 at the museum.
