n March 26, the Lititz Historical Foundation treated area residents to a presentation dedicated to the Rocky Springs Park Carousel. Eileen Gregg, author of “Lancaster’s Hidden Treasure: The Rocky Springs Dentzel Carousel,” and two invited guests visited the Lititz Public Library to speak about the history of the carousel and efforts to resurrect the merry-go-round in a Lancaster location. Rocky Springs Park was a fixture in Lancaster from 1899 to 1968. Cory Van Brookhoven, president of the Lititz Historical Foundation, welcomed Gregg, who said she was happy to see interest in the carousel. “This is an unusual kind of history book,” Gregg began, noting that she sees the work as a story that needed to be written while people who have memories of Rocky Springs Park are still living. Gigi’s Playhouse, a Down Syndrome Achievement Center located at 2503 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, added some special activities to its already robust schedule to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day on March 21. Activities included a taco party with karaoke in the evening and purposeful programing with an emphasis on helping others during the day. See Gigi’s Playhouse pg 6
Volunteer clowns are needed to put smiles on the faces of attendees at the Make-A-Wish Mother’s Day Truck Convoy in Manheim.
“Being a clown is about building relationships,” said Andrew Imhoff, whose clown name is Roland. Imhoff has been a volunteer clown with the Make-A-Wish Mother’s Day Truck Convoy for a number of years. “I love building relationships with kids and being able to see children happy no matter what they’re going through.” Clown organizer Amy Nolt, who goes by Harmony when she is wearing her black vest adorned with musical notes, would love to see at least 25 volunteer clowns join her See Make-A-Wish pg 4
