in 1928 as the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce (SVCC) began representing the tri-borough region of Columbia, Marietta and Wrightsville in the late 1980s. SVCC most visibly represents the area through its operation of the Visitors Center located along Route 30.

SVCC strives to improve the quality of life and to promote an atmosphere of business cooperation in Columbia, Marietta, and Wrightsville. This mission is easily seen in the SVCC tag line “River Towns Working Together.” SVCC service reaches beyond these river communities on both sides of the Susquehanna River, extending into Lancaster and York Counties in south-central Pennsylvania.

The Chamber functions under a Board of Directors and is operated by a small staff, college student trainees, and volunteers. Over 100 volunteers give of their time to make SVCC fundraising events a success.

However, we do enjoy reciprocal honorary memberships with these organizations.

Most members join to create connections with other business people through the networking opportunities presented by SVCC; others have joined for member benefits such as insurance through Pennsylvania Chamber Insurance (PCI).

The Chamber publishes this annual Guide that is distributed through our member businesses, our Visitors Center, as well as in relocation and information packets. This Guide is also delivered to all residences in Columbia, Marietta, and Wrightsville through the services of Engle Printing and Publishing.

All SVCC members are included in the Guide and have the opportunity to place an advertisement at a reduced member rate.

SVCC also works with Engle Publishing to produce Susquehanna River Towns, a guide geared to visitors to the region. This publication includes the history of the area as well as information on activities and events hosted by community organizations. The calendar of events appeals to residents and guests alike.

May 29, 2021 • 12th Annual

Missy Glenn Memorial River Run 5k

All events for 2020 have been rescheduled to 2021 to protect everyone from the spread of COVID 19 and to comply with CDC requirements and the Governor of Pennsylvania’s Disaster.

The course for this event is a popular one – it crosses the Susquehanna River via the Veterans Memorial Bridge (Rt. 462) between Lancaster & York County which is closed to vehicular traffic during the event. Enjoy the scenic course against the fall foliage of the river valley. The Run begins in Wrightsville at 8:30 am and finishes in “record time” against this autumn backdrop.

Pre-registration is available. Participants may also register on the day of the run beginning at 7:30 am. The run is held rain or shine.

Walkers and those with strollers welcome to participate. Please, NO pets.

April 11, 2021 • 11th Annual Our first virtual fundraising event is planned for the month of August, 2020!

First-ever online marketplace to feature artisans, small businesses and benefits the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center.

The Susquehanna Valley Market Place will be a one-of-akind shopping experience and fundraiser to celebrate businesses, restaurants, dealers, vendors and artists while supporting Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce! The Chamber is partnering with Alegre Events to present the virtual fundraiser as a safe alternative for in-person creative markets in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This e-commerce experience will allow guests to learn, connect, and shop, with a seamless checkout process that drives inquiries and orders to your inbox. A portion of all sales will be donated back to the Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce, ensuring all sales will have double the impact for small business owners in the area.

Taste of the River Towns

This popular restaurant fair will be held at St. John’s Herr Estate, 200 Luther Lane, Columbia. Sample the wares of local restaurants and food vendors. This ticketed event features open seating from 4 to 6:30 PM. To purchase your tickets, contact SVCC.

June 19, 2021 • 8th Annual

Thunder on the River Car Show

Located on Locust Street in downtown Columbia, this event will run from 10am-2pm. Take a walk down memory lane with vintage cars, great music, good friends, and a variety of food. A collaborative effort of the Columbia Lions Club and SVCC, this event features show awards, with numerous trophies to be awarded including Best of Show. Oldies music will serve as a backdrop for a fun-filled day. Admission for spectators is free. (NOTE: This event benefits selected local charities as well as the coordinating organizations. This is not solely an SVCC Event.)

June 26, 2021 • 40th Annual

Antique, Art & Craft Show

This popular outdoor event runs from 8 am to 2 pm and features unique vendors filling Locust Street Park and lining the main thoroughfare. Look for a mixture of crafts, antiques, food and entertainment. Free parking is available.

Bridge Bust

Over one mile of vendors will offer their wares in the categories of antiques, art, crafts, food and specialty items in this unique and popular event. The venue is the Rt. 462 Veterans Memorial Bridge between Columbia and Wrightsville (Lancaster & York County.) The 1.25 mile bridge is closed to traffic for this event. Hours are 8 am – 4 pm. Free parking and free shuttle service is available from both sides of the bridge. Admission is $2 for adults; $1 for children 6 to 12; and children under 6 enter free of charge. Please, NO pets.
