Long To Succeed Lininger As Solanco Principal The Solanco School Board has approved the hiring of Scott Long as principal at Solanco High School. Long has served as high school assistant principal since 2015. He will succeed current principal Stephanie Lininger, who is retiring following a 35-year career at Solanco High School, including the last three years as principal. Long joined Solanco in 2012 as a middle school physical education teacher, becoming assistant high school principal three years later. “I am really excited to be taking on my new role as principal at Solanco High School. The most exciting part of this job is getting to work with our students and teachers,” Long said. “Our students are kind, caring, (and) courageous, and (they) take responsibility for their learning. We have phenomenal teachers who routinely go the extra mile and do whatever they can to ensure our students are
successful. I am honored that I have been given an opportunity to be a part of that process.” Solanco superintendent Brian Bliss is pleased with Long’s ascension to the new position. “I am thrilled Scott is moving into this leadership role,” Bliss remarked. “He believes in each student and will continue to commit himself to enabling each child to reach his or her potential.” Long is in his fourth year as Solanco varsity boys’ basketball head coach, a position he will resign following the season. Long’s first day on the job as high school principal will be Monday, July 1, 2019. Prior to working at Solanco, Long served as an adapted physical education teacher at Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 from 2007 to 2012. He worked as a teacher in the health and physical education department in the Pequea Valley School District in 2006. See New Principal pg 5
