For about 10 years, MaryLou
Neidig has worked with the kitchen crew to serve food at the Wesley Church Craft Fair, a fundraiser that has been held since 2011. Neidig likes that funds raised by the food sales benefit those in need in the community.
“We provide food, but the profit goes to help other people,” said Neidig. “When you give, you always get back.”

This year’s craft fair will be held at the church, 1104 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville, on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Co-chaired by Bonnie Aukamp and Julie Walton, this year’s event will feature more than 50 crafters, door prizes donated by vendors, and breakfast and lunch items for purchase.
“It is always exciting to see what creative items people make,” shared Aukamp, who noted that with the high number of crafters taking part, a large variety of items will be available for shoppers to peruse and purchase. Among the vendors will be those selling artwork, upcycled crafts, kitchenware, wood crafts, knitted and sewn items, jewelry,
and items especially for pets. Plants and baked goods will also be sold.
“New this year will be a Kids Corner, (which) will feature various items for sale made by kids,” reported Aukamp.
Vendor participation fees benefit Wesley Church’s discretionary fund.
Food items that will be available for purchase include coffee, doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches, and a crispy potato side dish. Among the lunch items available will be chicken corn soup, which is also sold by the
hot dogs; and beverages.
“We provide food, but the profit goes to help other people. … When you give, you always get back.”
Those who attend the craft fair are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to be donated to the Solanco Neighborhood Ministries’ food bank. Attendees may also donate items of winter clothing, such as hats and gloves, for the church mitten tree.
Funds raised by food sales will benefit the Solanco Neighborhood Ministries’ food bank, Solid Rock Youth Ministries, and Joyfully Made Fellowship. Neidig said that

The Octorara Covenanter Foundation will present its annual Celtic/Traditional Advent Service on Sunday, Dec. 7.
The service will be held at 3 p.m. at Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville.
Refreshments will be served following the event.
“We build it around our culture here in the Southern End, the Scots-Irish background, which gets the Celtic part,” said event organizer John Girvin. “We also wanted to focus on some of the traditions, so that’s why over the last few years when we put this together, we wanted to get different instruments involved, obviously focusing on getting a piper, but also bringing in some other things this year, a trumpeter and the organist.”
The Schoolhouse Museum at the Covenanter Church will be open from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
The service will feature music from Middle Octorara organist Boni Henry, piper Rhys Weibel, and trumpeter Kenton Green from Solanco High School; a duet from Donald and Becki Henderson; and a performance by Donald, Becki, and Rosa Henderson along with Luke and Marsha Marchant.
“Donald Henderson, who is on the board, plays a key role in presenting Christmas readings from the Bible in the Braid-Scots dialect,” said Girvin. “And he also has a group, and he sings with his family. They’ll be here for that program, and then him and his wife and daughters will then sing

Lancaster Bible College (LBC), 901 Eden Road, Lancaster, will present its 2025 Christmas concerts at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, and 2 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Good Shepherd Chapel.
The free Christmas concerts, titled “A Light in the Darkness: From Prophecy to Promise,” will feature several LBC ensembles in performances that weave together a variety of music, dance, and Scripture to celebrate the Christmas season.

Additionally, professors from LBC’s School of Bible & Ministry will share wisdom from the Bible via videos interspersed throughout the concerts. The concerts are free to attend, but tickets are required and may be reserved at www.lbc.edu/ events.

Ephrata National Bank (ENB) has announced the three finalists for its fifth annual Letters to Santa Contest, an initiative created to support and celebrate the nonprofit organizations making a meaningful difference across the communities ENB serves.
Each year, Letters to Santa invites community members to nominate their favorite 501(c)(3) organizations by submitting a letter describing the impact the organization has on the lives of others. Entries include stories of hope, service, education

and support, reflecting the many ways nonprofits strengthen Lancaster, Lebanon and Berks counties.
After receiving and reviewing the first 50 eligible submissions, ENB’s internal judging committee evaluated entries based on story impact and
the potential impact of a financial gift.

The first entry that has been selected as one of this year’s finalists is One Luv Outreach. Based in Reading, the nonprofit aims to bring “love and light” to the community through weekly family-friendly gatherings and weekly distributions of essentials, including food, clothing, toiletries and toys. The outreach is rooted in Christian faith and emphasizes sharing hope through the Gospel.
The second finalist is Milagro House. Located in Lancaster, Milagro House empowers women with children who are experiencing homelessness through a holistic, two-generational model. Its core programs include residential housing, education, life-skills training

a couple Christmas carols in Scottish-Gaelic music, and they lead the congregation in learning how to do it in the Scottish-Gaelic language. That’s something we always look forward to.”
Pastor John Barlow will lead attendees in prayer.
“We’ve also kind of now made a tradition to end the program with ‘Auld Lang Syne’ featuring on Scotland’s major poet and bard Robert Burns. So it is a nice ending and nice way to finish up.”
The Octorara Covenanter Presbyterian Foundation is a nonprofit group formed to restore and maintain the Covenanter church and old Bart High School.

“(People) like the music,” he continued. “They don’t necessarily want to have to come and hear a sermon per se. So basically, the message they get here is essentially the readings.” Girvin’s father, Barry, who is helping organize the service, stated, “Just the idea of a Celtic Christmas, a celebration which speaks of the Scottish heritage, is something that a lot of people are interested in. The people who come to the Scottish Festival are very much into that culture, and this is a service that would really be of interest to them.”
“This is a service that dates back into the ’80s,” Girvin said. “Some of the folks in the church did the program. Eventually, they had a Lancaster youth symphony or artist performing. Artists came down and did a program, and over the years, it just started to really fall off in attendance. So we decided to take it over ourselves and offer up as a program that could definitely bring in some local talent.” He noted that the Solanco Chorale has performed in the past and that instrumentalists also display their talents.

The Lancaster County Young Marines, in partnership with Marine Corps League Detachment 294, will host Breakfast With Santa on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 6 to 10 a.m. at 2340 Ironville Pike, Columbia. Guests may visit with Santa between 8:30 and 9:15 a.m.
The menu will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, doughnuts, bananas, coffee, hot
chocolate, orange juice, chocolate milk, and whole milk. Attendees are asked to bring an age-appropriate chapter book or a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots.
The cost of the meal is by donation. All proceeds will support the Lancaster County Young Marines program, helping to build leadership, discipline, and service in local youths.
The Quarryville Library Center, 357 Buck Road, Quarryville, will host programs in December. To register for events, visit www .quarryvillelibrary.org and click on “Events.”
A free movie night will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4. The December film will be “Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Snacks will be available, and people of all ages are welcome.
Yoga will be offered at the library on Tuesdays, Dec. 9 and 16, from 6 to 7 p.m. Attendees should bring a yoga mat or bath towel, a hand towel, and a water bottle. Adults and teens of all skill levels are welcome.
The Friends of the Quarryville Library Center will hold their annual holiday cookie sale on Friday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
A Craft Café will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. The program will provide a relaxed environment for adults to work on their own craft projects or participate in a provided craft activity.
CareerLink Lancaster County will be at the library on Wednesday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help people with a job search, leveling up their computer skills, a résumé, interview tips, career exploration, and more.
Pennsylvania Health Access Network (PHAN), a nonprofit organization that provides free, unbiased information about health coverage, will provide free help enrolling people in health coverage on Dec. 10 from noon to 5 p.m. PHAN’s assisters can help people compare plans, understand costs, see if their doctor is covered, and find out if they qualify for tax credits that make plans more affordable.
The library accepts nonperishable food donations and other items for Solanco Neighborhood Ministries. Needed items include cans of cream of mushroom soup, 12-ounce cans of evaporated milk, canned green beans, Triscuits and Wheat Thins, mayonnaise, toothbrushes, toothpaste, 10-ounce cans of tomato soup, 10-ounce cans of chicken noodle soup, cans of seafood chowder/soup, microwave popcorn, and fruit snacks.
The Historic Ephrata Cloister, 632 W. Main St., Ephrata, will hold Christmas at the Cloister, a “Lessons and Carols” program held in the historic 1741 Meetinghouse, on Monday, Dec. 8, and Tuesday, Dec. 9, with performances at 6:30 and 8 p.m. each evening.
The program will feature the story of Christmas as told through Scripture readings, music by the Ephrata Cloister Chorus, and carols for all to sing together. Following the program, light refreshments, including hot mulled cider and cookies, will be available in the Visitor Center auditorium.
Tickets may be purchased in person at the Ephrata Cloister museum store or visitor center or by visiting

and intensive case management. Since education is central, Milagro House supports mothers working on their GED or pursuing postsecondary education to break the cycle of poverty. Green Meadow Farm in Leola is the third finalist. The farm provides free, individualized mentoring and equine-assisted lessons to children and teens who have experienced trauma or emotional hardship. Through inter -
action with horses and farm life, the organization aims to bring healing, trust, responsibility and renewal, all grounded in Christian faith.
• Experience the joy of the season

• Savor delightful holiday desserts

Community members are encouraged to visit the ENB Letters to Santa Contest Page at https:// santa.epnb.com to read the finalists’ letters, view accompanying photos and cast their vote for the organization they believe deserves a special holiday gift. Public voting will remain open through Monday, Dec. 8, and the organization receiving the highest number of votes will be named the first prize winner.
This year’s prizes are $15,000, first place; $5,000, second place; and $3,000, third place.
Winners will be notified on Tuesday, Dec. 9, and an official announcement will be shared on ENB’s social media channels by early January 2026.

Joyfully Made, which is overseen by Tami Shaub, is a ministry to students with special needs and disabilities. At one time, the funds raised by the food sales were donated to an organization in Haiti. “We used to go to Haiti to make the donation,” said Neidig, who added that the unrest in the Caribbean nation has made the visits unsafe. According to Neidig,
working the kitchen at the craft fair is a labor of love for the dedicated volunteers who staff it each year. “It’s a well-run machine,” she stated. “Everyone has their own part. It’s been a joy to be able to do this.”
