Resource Night will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Solanco High School, 585 Solanco Road, Quarryville. Community organizations and support services will be on hand to speak with parents and other members of the community. The event is free and open to the public. Organizations will include Solanco Family Life Network, Solanco Neighborhood Ministries, Quarryville Library, Compass Mark, Weigel Counseling, Lancaster County CareerLink, Pregnancy Resources at Cornerstone, and others. THANKSGIVING DINNER

Mount Nebo United Methodist Church, 673 Martic Heights Drive, Pequea, will host a free Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov. 22, at noon. The community is invited to attend. Reservations are required by Sunday, Nov. 18, by calling the church at 717-284-4331. Callers are asked to leave a name and the total number of guests attending.

Rock Ford Plantation, 881 Rockford Road, Lancaster, will welcome Annie Mowery, a high school volunteer docent, who will present a free lecture titled “Textbook vs. Truth: History Beyond the Classroom,” on Thursday, Nov. 1. The lecture will begin at 5 p.m. and will be held in the Rock Ford Barn. This lecture will discuss what the ground and the structures built on it can tell about the people who lived there, especially those individuals who may be overlooked in the shaping of America. MOPC Slates Bazaar, Shoebox Gifts Collection With Christmas less than two months away, the congregation of Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church (MOPC) is preparing for the holiday season with a bazaar and Operation Christmas Child (OCC). The annual holiday bazaar will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville. Ten vendors are expected to offer a variety of crafts and other items for purchase. The kitchen will be busy, with the menu containing breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, vegetable beef soup, and baked goods. Soft pretzels will be offered at the bazaar for the first time this year. The proceeds from the bazaar will be used to support local and worldwide missions. “It’s just a fun day to get out with a friend, bring in the holiday season, and enjoy good food and fellowship,” said

Chris Lenhart officially became the lead pastor at Calvary Monument Bible Church on Sept. 1. Prior to that, Lenhart served as associate pastor at a Quarryville church for several years. He also coaches football at Solanco High School.

“A lot of people do not know about our various sales,” said Community Closet Thrift Store manager Beth Tyson. The “Young at Heart” sale runs every Wednesday at the shop, located in the TownsEdge Village Shopping Center, 128 Townsedge Drive, Quarryville. On those days, shoppers age 50 and older may take 50 percent off the prices of all items with colored tags. Additionally, dollar sales are held weekly, offering all customers one last chance to take home clothing, shoes, accessories, home décor, and more. “Items have six weeks to sell.
