At this year’s event, a five-gallon container of water will be placed in the pavilion at Muddy Run Park, 172 Bethesda Church Road, Holtwood, where the walkers will gather on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 20. “(Participants) can experience how it feels to be a person who must walk a distance carrying fresh water for their families,” said event co-chair Mary Etta Reinhart. “Helping communities find sources of fresh water is one of the important efforts of Church World Service.” Three-fourths of the proceeds from the Solanco CROP Walk will support the global efforts of Church World Service (CWS) to reduce hunger and poverty in countries around the world.
