Providence Township To Host National Night Out By Dayna M. Reidenouer
“It went great. We had an overwhelming amount of people h e r e ,” z o n i n g o f f i c e r H e i d i M a r tinez said, reflecting on Providence Township’s first National Night Out (NNO) event held in 2018. “Brent (Musser) saved us; he went and got more hot dogs and rolls.” Folks like Musser, who is the alternate for the township’s planning commission, helped to make the 2018 NNO event a success, and still more are poised to assist at this year’s event, which will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the township’s maintenance building, 200 Mount Airy Road, New Providence. Providence Township’s first National Night Out event last year included interactions with neighbors and law enforcement, township supervisors grilling free hot dogs, and bicycle giveaways. This year’s event, set for Aug. 6, is slated to be bigger and better.

The duo of Barley & Steele will open the 2019 Strasburg Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m. on the campus of First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 S. Decatur St. This team of Kenny Barley and Braden Steele performs a mix of country, bluegrass, gospel, and folk music from the likes of Ricky Skaggs, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Merle Travis, John Denver, and The Animals. “We’ve known each other for a long time.
