“We started it in 2019, and it was a sit-down (meal) at a farm. We set up tables and had live music. Then the following two years, because of COVID, we had to do a drive-through event, so it looked a lot different,” explained Raeanne Nixon, executive director of Solid Rock. “Osbornia Farm (is) a venue where they do weddings and fundraisers. It’s a refurbished barn. It’s very beautiful. There will be indoor seating, and that’s where we will do the dinner and the program (where attendees will) learn more about Solid Rock.” Nixon noted that the downstairs area of the venue opens into a patio. “That’s where we will do the appetizers and have live music,” she said. “There is beautiful scenery, and we will have a photographer there taking pictures of couples during the evening.” Diners will enjoy beef, scalloped potatoes, corn on the cob and seasonal vegetables. Dessert will feature fruit made into a cobbler.

“Project Lifesaver is for people who have cognitive impairment that makes them prone to wander,” said Kelly Osborne, community services officer and Project Lifesaver coordinator with the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop J, Lancaster County. Now that the State Police officers serving in Lancaster are affiliated with Project Lifesaver, the service is available in all areas of the county. Individuals who are Kelly Osborne of the Pennsylvania State enrolled with Project Police, Troop J, Lancaster, displays Project
Lifesaver wear a bracelet connected to a transmitter set to a designated radio frequency assigned to that person. If the individual wanders, the battery-operated device emits a signal that can be traced by law enforcement. “Should a (participant) go missing, the caregiver calls a local police department. (Police officers) plug in the frequency to pick up that specific transmitter,” explained Osborne, who noted that the equipment utilizes analog radio frequency because of its reliability. Osborne added that use of the system minimizes time and resources, needed to locate someone, and when it is employed, most participants who wander are found within 30 minutes.
