Burgerz & Burnouts 3.0 will be held at Living Stones Vineyard Church, 2292 Robert Fulton Highway, Peach Bottom, on Saturday, July 13. The official start time is noon, although folks are welcome to arrive as early as 9 a.m. The event will run “until the smoke clears,” said Jason Dillon, who created the event with Tim Zimmerman of Auto Dreamz. “(We) came up with the idea when we were sitting in his shop,” Dillon recalled. “It was supposed to be hood rat stuff, but (pastor) Bud (Stillman) said we’re nuts to do it in the street, so he invited us to the church parking lot.” The first event was held two years ago, and last year’s attendance doubled that of the inaugural event, attracting 70 vehicles and 300 spectators. The driveway in front of the church was thoroughly blackened

by the spinning tires. “It’s the only show of its kind that allows burnouts in this area,” Dillon said. The event is open to anything with wheels, and in addition to the typical hot rods and Harleys, the previous events have drawn riding mowers and semi-trucks. “Just come have fun,” Dillon invited. Burgers, hot dogs, coleslaw, chips, and beverages will be ready at noon, and the burnouts will begin somewhere between 1 and 2 p.m. “We’ll hang out, eat, do burnouts, then hang out more and talk,” Dillon said. Food and admission will be free of charge, but donations will be accepted. Door prizes will be awarded. Kobbie’s Kustom Pinstriping from Maryland will attend, offering freehand pinstriping at the event. “He does good work,” Stillman said of the artist. A new support group in southern Lancaster County has been formed to strengthen families facing addiction. The group has been named Storm Riders, a nod to the song “Riders on the Storm” by The Doors. “It’s for anyone in the family when they need support while riding the waves of the storm of fighting addiction,” explained Jackie Grimsey, who co-founded Storm Riders with Doug and Eileen Cwienk and Kevin and Sabrina Doyle.
