Moms’ Day Out To Focus On Hope
We The People First Fridays will present “Your Life Is a Story” on Friday, July 6, at 7 p.m., at the Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster. The program will feature Gnome Countryside’s Richard Humphreys. Also, from 6 to 8 p.m., the Ware Center will host an opening reception in the Regitz Gallery for “Fantasy,” an exhibit from painter Nicholas Pastal. Both events are free. Humphreys will present his story. At the age of 14, Humphreys developed type I, or juvenile, diabetes. The chronic disease inspired his adventure-filled life, including a trip around the world that he ended by riding his 10-speed bicycle from Oregon to Pennsylvania while managing the disease. He directed Ho Mida Koda, a camp in Ohio for children living with diabetes, and in 2007, at the age of 65, he walked from the camp to his home in southern Lancaster County, See Ware Center pg 7

I was just hoping to reach some single moms,” shared Germaine. That first year, 90 mothers took part, and in 2017, 125 women participated. “This year, within the first week of opening the registration, I had 70 single moms signed up, and now we’re at about 160,” said a delighted Germaine. “It’s fantastic how friends are bringing their friends.” The 2018 event has been planned for Saturday, July 21, at Calvary Church,
