Solanco To Welcome New Pupil Services Director The person filling the role of Solanco School District’s director of pupil services will change this summer. The current director, Carole L. Clancy, has earned a distinguished invitation to serve in the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE). Clancy’s exemplary leadership in special education has resulted in her appointment as director of the PDE’s Special Education Bureau. Her resignation from Solanco will be effective Monday, July 22. “Carole’s efforts at Solanco have been tremendous, and we are greatly appreciative of the expertise and commitment she provided to our students,” commented district superintendent Brian Bliss. “I have no doubt that I will be better in my new role, having spent the past year as part of the Solanco educational team,” Clancy said. “I have experienced

a collective group of passionate, dedicated leaders with a consistent kindergarten-to-grade-12 vision that resonates ‘Solanco is always about what is best for the students.’” At its June 3 meeting, the Solanco School Board approved the hiring of Christopher Keeler as Solanco’s new director of pupil services. Keeler has been the coordinator of special education in the School District of Lancaster (SDoL) since 2016. He has also served as an exceptional student specialist for SDoL, a learning support teacher at J.P. McCaskey High School, and an adjunct instructor for Millersville University. “I am thrilled to welcome Chris to the Solanco team. His talents and absolute devotion to our students with special needs will be a tremendous asset to our programs,” Bliss said. See New Personnel pg 6

New canners and new gauges should also be tested. Pressure canners with a weighted gauge do not have to be tested for accuracy, because they cannot go out of calibration. Testing will take place at Weaver’s Store, Fivepointville, on Wednesday, June 19, from 3 to 5 p.m.; at Good’s Store, Schaefferstown, on Thursday, June 20, from 2 to 5 p.m.; at Good’s Store, Ephrata, on June 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.; at Good’s Store, East Earl, on Friday, June 21, from noon to 3 p.m.; and at Good’s Store, Quarryville, on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to noon.
