Introducing The Mother-Son Night Of Fun By Dayna M. Reidenouer
Boys enrolled in Solanco School District’s elementary and middle schools, along with their adult female family figures, are invited to attend the first-ever Mother-Son Night of Fun on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will be held at George A. Smith Middle School, 645 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville. Activities will be set up throughout the school, with plenty of opportunities for youngsters and adults to expend some energy. Attendees are advised to wear appropriate clothing and shoes for being active. Basketball, a lacrosse toss, cornhole, dancing, mini-bowling, Wii games, and Minute-to-Win-Itstyle games will be offered, along with more calm activities like board and
card games, building with Legos, and a selfie booth. Light refreshments will be provided. There is a flat fee per family to attend the Mother-Son Night of Fun, with the proceeds going to the Smith Middle School PTO. Night of Fun co-chairs Angie Schlagnhaufer and Trina Armstrong explained that the new event is one of several that have been created as a replacement for the lap-running fundraiser that had once been the PTO’s most significant source of funds. “We’re hoping this becomes a big thing so we don’t have to do so many little (fundraisers),” Schlagnhaufer said. “It’s the first year, so there aren’t a lot of expectations. We have people signed up already, so we’re excited.” See Night Of Fun pg 4
