he Officer and Members of the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company wish to invite the public to attend our annual Fire Prevention Open House Thursday, October 10th from 6:00pm-8:30pm. We are located at 21 West Forrest Avenue Shrewsbury, PA 17361.

Our annual Open House is held annually and offers many opportunities to be up close and personal with the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company equipment, apparatus, and members. The members will be available to interact and explain fire prevention techniques, show families what fire gear looks and feels like, and what it is like to wear the gear. Members of the fire company will also show the community how some equipment operates, take you on a tour around the fire station, and of course fire engine rides for everyone that attends.

In past years we have seen thousands of families walk through our doors during Open House. Join us for a fun-filled evening, packed with learning opportunities for everyone. Our fire station is “Professionally Staffed By Volunteers,” and we want our community to see what it is like to be a firefighter. We look forward to seeing you at this years Open House.

LIVE-IN PROGRAM AND RECRUITMENT T

he Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company’s LiveIn program is in full affect and wanting volunteers that are interested in this opportunity.

This program allows a volunteer firefighter looking for lodging a place to stay. In return, they give dedicated hours of volunteer time to man our fire station. Our station is 100% volunteer and although we can get our apparatus on the street in a timely manner there are times when manpower is limited. Having a Live-In firefighters at the station allows us to bridge the gap when other volunteers are not able to respond to calls.

College students usually are looking for a place to live at a reduced cost. If they are certified to be a firefighter, we can give them a place to live rent free. They repay this lodging by manning fire apparatus when not in school. This help both the fire station and the firefighter and the citizens we protect in the surrounding areas. The rooms provide are private room with a bed and other furniture. Along with their private room are bathrooms, kitchen facilities, and a comfortable lounge. Computer access is available to out live-ins, which can allow them to do school work when

needed. If you are 18 or older, certified, and interested in being apart of our fire station family contact the live-in committee livein@shrewsburyfire.com We also offer many other opportunities to the community to be apart of the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company.

he Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company is excited to announce the 71st annual Shrewsbury Fireman’s Carnival coming June 22nd – 27th, 2020. This six day carnival offers fun and family-friendly entertainment to the community including rides, games, food, nightly entertainment, and vendors. Every year the carnival is a large undertaking and continues to thrive in the community as one of the best events around town. All proceeds from this event goes directly back into building maintenance and upkeeping of the apparatus.
