On Aug. 12, when Adam Nagle, executive director of The Factory Ministries, spoke prior to the ribbon cutting of the new Pequea Valley Early Learning Center (PVELC) wing located in The Factory Ministries building, 3293 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, he commented about the many hands and hearts that worked together to make the three new classrooms and offices a reality. “This took hard work, team effort, and generosity,” stated Nagle. “We rolled up our sleeves and saw the need, and we worked together to solve that need.” Nagle added that many partners were represented at the event, including the Together Initiative Network (TIN), the High Foundation, Pequea Valley School District (PVSD), and Community Action Partnership (CAP). “We

Todd Prickett, co-owner of The Barn at Paradise Station, has specific criteria that talent appearing at the venue must meet. “Our main focus is not on the quantity of our shows, but quality,” stated Todd, who noted that an act’s material should be suitable for all family members.
When Todd first heard of Christian recording artist Chris August, he researched the musician and discovered a 10-day tour called “Acoustic Storytime,” in which August is featured with fellow artists Rachael Lampa and Jason
Gray. The timing appeared to be perfect for The Barn. “We booked it,” stated Todd.
In celebration of “Christ and Country,” Acoustic Storytime will play on stage at The Barn, 312 Paradise Lane, Ronks, on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. Gray, who will host the event, is a Christian musician known for his emotionally resonant songs and introspective style.
August is originally from Garland, Texas. He became a Christian as a teenager and released his first contemporary Christian album in 2010. A Dove award winner who has toured with Point of Grace,

The Saddlebag Riders Chapter of the Motorcyclists for Jesus Ministries will hold its annual Wounded Warrior Ride on Saturday, Sept. 13. The ride will start at Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church of Creswell, 1165 Letort Road, Conestoga, with kickstands up at 10 a.m., and it will end at The Amish Village, 199 Hartman Bridge Road, Ronks.
The 56-mile route will take riders along the Susquehanna River and through beautiful farmland, including Amish farms. After the ride, attendees can tour The Amish Village and have a light lunch and drinks.
The ride is by donation, and all proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. For more information, call Chuck Moore at 717-224-8790.
rallied together to get the work done,” said Nagle.
Nagle recalled that in 2024, Rich Eby, assistant PVSD superintendent who was instrumental in helping to found PVELC, called to say that the early learning center, then located in the Pequea Valley Intermediate School, would need a new home when its current location was torn down following the construction of the new Pequea Valley Secondary School. “He said, ‘We can’t move it into the new construction, and we can’t lose this service,’” Nagle reported.
Nagle knew there was space in The Factory building, but remodeling to accommodate current PVELC classroom needs would be expensive. Lisa Eckert, senior director of youth services, suggested that her team move from its present location to the other side of the building to make room for PVELC. PVELC includes three preschool classrooms, space for child care for infants and toddlers, and before- and after-school care. Painting three rooms, adding new flooring and countertops, and adding bathrooms transformed the Braves Learning Center into areas that could accommodate PVELC for the fall 2025 school semester. A playground outside the classrooms will be completed in the near future.
The changes were paid for through a grant from the High Foundation. Robin Stauffer, executive director of the High Foundation, spoke at the event. She discussed the values of the foundation, which include servant leadership, stewardship, optimism, boldness, creativity, and equity. “Everyone deserves a fair chance,” she noted. “We strive to align with community benefit organizations and stakeholders
to support positive change in areas of identified need.” Stauffer added that the mission of the foundation is to “operate with a heart of service and spirit of collaboration to build

How those ripples affect those who love a man with an addiction is the theme of Revelations of Freedom Ministries (ROFM) annual Victory banquet. Victory: An Evening of Freedom Stories will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. at the Shady Maple Banquet Center, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The adoption agency stood in the gap.” Schultz also has experience mentoring men with addictions. “(Now), he talks about standing in the gap (for people),” Ginder added, noting that Schultz will bless the gathering by singing a few of his songs.
have been adopted, and it is so close to the heart of these men. They have a black hole, and they have no clue what it is,” he pointed out. “They have something missing, and they can’t put a finger on it.”
Elwood Martin, who serves as executive director of ROFM, has been involved with the ministry in a variety of roles since it was founded in 2012.
The speaker for this year’s banquet will be Christian singer and songwriter Mark Schultz, known for his songs “Letters from War” and “He’s My Son.” Abbey Ginder, development and marketing director with ROFM, said Schultz’s story fit with the ministry’s current emphasis on how addiction
Martin, who will speak about his experiences with the organization at the banquet, called adoption a “hot topic” among men struggling with addictions. “We have a few guys who
Martin has seen firsthand how addictions and the loss associated with those issues can affect families. While working at the Freedom Thrift on 30 store, Martin explained the mission of the ministry to a shopper. “(The shopper said) ‘We lost our son (to an addiction) five years ago at 30 years old,’” recalled Martin. “She wanted to shake my hand, and she just tried to hold on. The family connection … we have to (understand) how important that is.”

August made a decision in 2018 to tour less and write more, offering his original compositions to fellow artists to record.
Lampa has been exercising her “powerhouse” vocals for the Lord in the music industry since she was a teenager. She is the recipient of a Dove award for her song “Blessed” and one of the founders of People Loving Nashville, a nonprofit that reaches out to individuals experiencing homelessness and incarceration. On March 21, World Down Syndrome Day, Lampa released “Superpowers,” a song about her two-year-old son, Leo, who has Down syndrome.
The Barn co-owner Kat Prickett noted that the venue looks for “original and unique content” that is “uplifting and blesses the soul.” The Prickett family especially relates to Lampa’s journey. “Our fiveyear-old nephew (Todd’s grandson) has Down syndrome, and it has blessed our family in ways we never expected,” shared Kat. “We know that he was created for a purpose and that he will impact everyone he comes in contact with.”
“Acoustic Storytime” is unusual in that it features national artists in an intimate setting. “The personal and close connection of the audience to the artists will

Ginder said the ministry recently interviewed Cristy King, wife of Daniel King, a man who completed the ROFM program and now works as vocational therapy director for the organization. “We told the story from a wife’s point of view … what it was like to have Dan in the program and to have a young child … and to come full circle to when he was working in the program,” said Ginder. “That’s the family theme.”
On the menu for the evening will be Shady’s slow roasted tender beef and
baked barbecue chicken with a variety of sides and desserts served buffet style.
A silent auction featuring two high-end kayaks and a set of tires will be held during the event. Tickets, which are necessary to attend the banquet, may be purchased by visiting www.rofm.org/ banquet/. Readers who prefer may bring a check to the Freedom Thrift located at the ministry, 114 Ranck Church Road, New Holland. Tickets must be purchased by Friday, Sept. 12.

those bridges of opportunity.” “We are striving for an equitable world,” she said, noting the foundation is guided by the words of founder Dale High. “We are on this earth for a purpose that is larger than our own self-interest,” she said. “We are pleased to be participating in an important and much needed service that’s directly correlated to addressing poverty and transforming communities.”
Andrew Godfrey, vice president of education with CAP, also spoke, noting that he appreciates the partnership between the High Foundation, CAP, The Factory, and PVSD “because we are bridging the gap for children and everyone in this room.”
of students receiving free and reduced lunches in PVSD is over 60%. “(That high percentage) often means low kindergarten readiness,” said Nagle, who noted the institution of PVELC and the work of Eckert and her staff has resulted in a 33% growth
in kindergarten readiness. “(That’s) staggering,” stated Nagle. “It’s us working together to meet this need.”
More information about the program may be found by clicking on the “Early Learning” tab at www .pequeavalley.org.
“We are especially grateful to High for their generosity,” he said, adding that it was amazing to see the investment in children and the community come together so quickly. “It means high quality education and helping to set the stage for a life of success,” he stated. “Every child, regardless of circumstances, has the ability to reach their full potential,” he said. “That drives everything we do. This isn’t just about opening doors but about opening possibilities for children and families.”
Nagle explained the connection of PVELC to the mission of The Factory. “We don’t just want to alleviate poverty, we want to reduce poverty,” he said, noting that the percentage

Custom 2 Story Home with Attached 2 Car Garage on a 1 Ac + Landscaped Lot Antiques, Quality Furniture 1976 Mercedes-Benz 240D 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue
Submitted by Leona Baker, Historical Society of Salisbury Township
For the past few months, “From the Attic” has featured buildings along Lincoln Highway that Marquis de Lafayette passed during his 1825 tour through the nation, including the Mount Vernon Inn,
the Patterson house, the Stoltzfus house, the Ellmaker House, the Kennedy House, White Chimneys and the Sign of the John Adams tavern.
But there were other buildings, such as farms, mills and churches, many older than the township itself, that were sprinkled
around the Pequea Valley. In 1985, and again in 1996, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission designated several areas as Salisbury Township Historic Districts, eligible for state and national recognition.
Unless owners formally act upon the state recommendations for recognition, these buildings are not protected from the next owner’s whim. For instance, the Rising Sun Historic District included four early-1800’s buildings at the crossroads of Newport Road (Route 772)and Lincoln Highway (Route 30). Today, only the Kennedy house remains, itself not registered.
Now part of another historic district is threatened - the Slaymakertown Historic District, with the Sign of the John Adams and its adjacent barn, three houses that were once part of the White Chimneys Estate and White Chimneys itself. White Chimneys is the only
property now officially on the National Register of Historic Places. At present, the John Adams is owned by a family that treasures the historic home. Readers are invited to attend the November meeting of the historical society when former owners Jim and Brian Martin will reveal a few of its secrets.
And buildings not quite as old have been lost.
The Bishop Eby Farm on Brackbill Road is now a pile of rubble among the cornfields; the Hensel carriage house next to the Gap VFW had to be demolished. In 2003, historical society volunteers re-roofed the Fisher house of Buyerstown. That building fell to the need for a new oneroom parochial school. These are the buildings the 21st century remembers. Many more disappeared, not even thought of today. Are there any buildings of great age remaining in Salisbury Township today?
The answer is a resounding yes! But every day brings the possibility of another one disappearing. Fortunately, many new owners are very eager to learn the history of their home and come to the society for that history.

The historical society keeps an eye out for sales of old buildings, asking the owners if members may photograph throughout, just in case the new owner wants to tear it down. The society gets calls about buildings in danger of being razed. When members cannot stop the demolition, they can ask the owners if they may photograph from attic to cellar, so at least there is some memory of that house or business.
The society recently made a photographic history of a 1900s farmhouse; the new owner wished to demolish it to build a barn on the site. On the other side of the coin, the owner of a newly renovated house log walls.
