First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg, 101 S. Decatur St., will hold a First Forum event with the Rev. Vladimir Tatarnikov on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. The public is invited. Tatarnikov is a Lutheran pastor from Belarus. He will share what the life of a Christian looks like in Belarus. First Forum presents educational lectures on contemporary topics as they relate to the Christian faith. for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one will begin on Thursday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. at Petra Church, 565 Airport Road, New Holland. The group will meet for 13 weeks, and participants may join at any time. GriefShare is for those who have experienced painful losses, particularly the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend. This group is sponsored by people who understand grief and want to offer comfort and encouragement. Each session of GriefShare will begin with the showing of a DVD featuring an expert on a grief and recovery subject. The DVD showing is followed by small group discussion. Elizabeth Hoover, co-leader of The Factory Youth Center with Micah Leaman, is looking forward to taking 70 teenagers on a winter retreat from Friday, March 6, through Sunday, March 8. “ We are headed to Camp Orchard Hill,” said an enthusiastic Hoover. The group from The Factory will convene at the retreat in Dallas, Penn., for Winterblast 2020. The first weekend of March is specifically set aside by the camp for youth centers, which bring about 300 students in grades seven through 12 to the event. Winterblast 2020 is based on the theme of “Stories.” “They will be talking about God’s story, your story, and our story, meaning your story matters to God,” explained Hoover, who added See Winterblast pg 7

Students from The Factory Youth Center will return to Camp Orchard Hill in Dallas, Pa., from March 6 through 8 for Winterblast 2020, a special weekend of activities designed for youth centers. The Factory is seeking scholarships to help take 70 students to the event.

Tracey Strohecker and Annie Friedrichs are both excited about the atmosphere that Heart2Heart4Women will offer those who attend, and neither can wait to invite area women to join them. Heart2Heart4Women will be a monthly event focused on women gathering together for friendship and networking opportunities. Attendees will also hear stories from women who have had experiences that others can learn from. “Come as you are and enjoy a venue designed around friendship and acceptance,” said Strohecker. “We’re looking for women to enjoy a great evening out in a safe place where we can build a sisterhood.” “It’s so much more than just friendship and networking,” added See Heart2Heart4Women pg 6

Betty Snyder, Margaret Sensenig, and Deb Burns, have been organizing the annual lasagna dinner fundraiser at Salem Hellers Evangelical Reformed Church, 2555 Horseshoe Road, Leola, generally held on the last Saturday in February, for a number of years, and the trio runs the event like a well-oiled machine. “Dr. Grant Woods is a wildlife biologist and hunter specializing in deer habitat improvement and hunting techniques,” said Jaime Santiago, executive director and founder of Restart Training Center Ministry (RTCM), who noted that Woods has been a consultant to comedian Jeff Foxworthy with regard to deer population growth and management. Woods’ reputation as a man who loves God, his family, and hunting makes him a good fit to speak at the fifth annual RTCM sportsman banquet, which will be held on Wednesday, March 25, at Shady Maple Banquet Hall, 129 Toddy Drive, East Earl. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.
