UPLIFTING PRESENTATION

The Lancaster Christian Women’s Club will hold a luncheon at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, at Bent Creek Country Club, 620 Bent Creek Drive, Lititz. Guest speaker Irene Pace will present on “Come Rain or Shine, It’s a Wonderful Life.� The luncheon will feature skin care consultant Debbie Mays presenting on “New, Beautiful You.� The cost for the luncheon is allinclusive. The Knights of Columbus 13451 will host a free throw competition on Saturday, Jan. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the gymnasium at Our Lady of Lourdes, 150 Water St., New Holland. The event is open to all, and teams are welcome. There is no fee to participate. Winners in categories for participants who are ages 9 to 14 as of Jan. 1 can advance to competitions at the district, regional, and state levels. LBC To Present “Ruth� Musical

Charlotte Lapp, who oversees the Lifeways for Kids program, which provides weekend food blessings for students who qualify for free and reducedcost lunches in Pequea Valley School District (PVSD), with Marie Kurtz, has been volunteering with the program for more than five years. Three years ago when she began working in one of the PVSD elementary schools, she became more aware of the importance of the program. “I work as an aide,� commented Lapp. “Through working at the school, I have a better sense of the needs.� As part of the program, Lapp, Kurtz, and a number of other volunteers from about five area churches gather at Ridgeview Mennonite Church, 3723 Ridge Road, Gordonville, each Wednesday at 9 a.m. from October through the end of the school year to See Lifeways For Kids pg 6

When David Felty, executive producer, considered bringing the Sight and Sound Theatres original production of “Ruth� to the Lancaster Bible College (LBC) stage, he felt the show, based on one of only two books of the Bible dedicated to the story of a woman, should have a female perspective. With that in mind, he brought in Heather Grayberg to direct and choreograph, along with an all-female creative team that includes Leslie Talley and Gabrielle Hines as assistant directors, Kendra Bigley as music director, Katie Moser as set designer, and women overseeing costumes and props. “Ruth� will be staged on Fridays, Jan. 24 and 31, at 7 p.m.; on Saturdays, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, at 2 and 7 p.m.; and on Sundays, Jan. 26 and Feb. 2, at

The Lifeways for Kids program currently serves 54 students at Paradise Elementary and 36 at Salisbury Elementary.
