The Millersville Woman’s Club will hold a meet-and-greet picnic on Thursday, Aug. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Millersville Borough’s Freedom Memorial Park in Pavillion C near the flower garden maintained by club members. The park is located off Route 999. Area women interested in supporting the Penn Manor community are invited to attend. Hot dogs and lemonade will be available. Attendees may learn about the scholarships and organizations that the club funds and the art activities and programs it offers to its members. There is no obligation to join. Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church, 3716 Main St., Conestoga, will host a Back-to-School Bash on Sunday, Aug. 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The event will feature a variety of games and activities, including outdoor water games, weather permitting. Treats will be available. The Back-to-School Bash is open to the public, and parents are encouraged to accompany their children. BAND CONCERT

60 Clay St., Mountville, is hosting the 24th season of concerts, sponsored by the Mountville Community Services Foundation, on its lawn. The series will conclude with the New Holland Band on Sunday, Aug. 19. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Hospice & Community Care’s 34th annual Labor Day Auction will be held at the Solanco Fairgrounds, 101 Park Ave., Quarryville, on Saturday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 3, beginning each day at 7:30 a.m. with Amish-made food, specialty auctions, and packed schedules. The Labor Day Auction is free to attend, with proceeds from winning bids and food sales benefiting patients and families receiving hospice and palliative care and bereavement support. The two-day event will feature new and used items up for bids, a furniture auction, an array of gift certificates and gift baskets, and five specialty auctions. The specialty auctions on Sept. 1 will feature plants, artwork, and days of care. Through the auction for days of care, folks will be able to contribute directly to patient care. Siloam Ethiopia will host a fundraising meal of common Ethiopian dishes on Saturday, Aug. 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ethiopian Evangelical Church in Lancaster, 175 Church St., Landisville. Admission is a minimum requested donation. Reservations are appreciated, but not required. To make reservations, email siloamethio@gmail.com. Proceeds will support a new medical clinic that has opened in Harar, Ethiopia, providing no-cost medical care to the people in greatest need in the area.

“(The 9/11 Stair Climb) gives everybody a chance to pause and remember 343 firefighters who died and what they sacrificed that day,� explained Lancaster 9/11 Stair Climb committee chair Scott Yuill. “It’s our chance to honor those 343,� added committee member Joyce Mokros. The eighth annual Lancaster 9/11 Stair Climb will be held on Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Lancaster Barnstormers’ stadium, 650 N. Prince St., Lancaster. Registration for participants will open at 8 a.m., and the event will start at 9 a.m. with a time of calisthenics. See 9/11 Stair Climb pg 3
