The ConSERVANTory Offers Theater Training For Youths In place of its usual summer theater camps, Servant Stage Company has launched an online theater training program called The ConSERVANTory, offering virtual theater classes for youths ages 10 to 18. The youth theater education program has been a growing part of Servant Stage in recent years, with more than 200 students taking part in its theater camps and classes each summer. Due to health restrictions and safety concerns, some of this year’s camps have been canceled, but Servant Stage remains committed to offering theater training through alternative methods. Summer classes began on June 23 and are slated to run through Thursday, July 16. They will be livestreamed and will primarily be taught as masterclasses, executive director Johnathan Bauer said. “The students are primarily observers, but they are all live (classes), and students will have the opportunity to ask questions,” he added. “We are also offering private lessons in singing, dancing, or acting with several of the

instructors, which would be even more interactive.” The classes will also be recorded, so if students have difficulty accessing the livestream, they may receive a link to view the class at a later date. Each class will run for 75 minutes, and classes will be taught by a variety of theater professionals from Lancaster County and elsewhere. Instructors will include Glen Brodersen, Jordanne Brodersen, Andrea Calderon, Wally Calderon, Brandon Cameron, Brance Cornelius, Katelyn Coryell, Jacob Daniel Cummings, Kelly Donah, Amber Emerson, Chris Faith, Rebekah Hill, Ray Hilton, Amanda Lewis, Derek Martin, Danielle Poznanovic, Amanda Lewis, Sarah Watson, and Reji Woods. The topics covered during the classes will focus the general areas of dance, vocal performance, and acting, as well as specifics such as auditioning, improvisation techniques, stage crew opportunities, costume design, makeup design, directing, and more. The group classes will be offered following the pay-what-you-will model utilized for many of Servant Stage Company’s productions. Fees have been set for private lessons. See ConSERVANTory pg 5

May was National Pet Month, and Mulberry Art Studios had put together an array of artists, vendors, treats for pets and their humans, rescue animals ready for adoption, and more to celebrate. Unfortunately, the second annual “We Love Our Pets” art show had to be pushed back and was rescheduled for July. July is right around the corner and Lancaster County recently moved into the yellow phase, but large gatherings are still not allowed to take place. While most of the studio’s spring and summer art offerings have been postponed to later in the year, owner April Koppenhaver and curator Stephanie Cole were determined to make the show still happen. Koppenhaver and Cole have created an online gallery show - a virtual exhibit that will showcase artwork and hopefully still raise funds for their animal rescue partner, The Sebastian Foundation. The virtual exhibit will be hosted at www.mulberryartstudios.com and will feature about 150 pieces of art featuring See Pet Art Show pg 3

Celebrating 50 Years Of Growing Fruit In Lancaster County Richard Haas was a “city kid” from Philadelphia, but his dream was “to grow things.” Fast forward, and the dream that Richard built - and grew - is now celebrating 50 years as Cherry Hill Orchards, a well-known farmers market in Lancaster County. The Orchard Outlet and Garden Center is located at 400 Long Lane, Lancaster.

In his early days in Lancaster County, Richard worked for others, but he always wanted to operate his own business. His determination and persistence fueled his vision for the orchards once he took over the property, which was under the Shenk’s Farm name, in 1970. He renamed it Cherry Hill Orchards. After a first decade of growing, transporting and selling apples and peaches to a farmers market, he built and opened the outlet store building in 1980. Over the years, incremental changes and additions were made. Early on, the See Cherry Hill Orchards pg 4
