Hundreds of people who have a disability or other barrier to traditional employment have engaged at Homefields, where they grow organically minded produce for community shareholders. The farm is currently home to six adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. “What I love most about working here is the people,” stated farm manager Katie Landis. “Everyone is happy to be here.” Homefields’ season runs for 24 weeks, from the last week of May to the beginning of November. People can purchase shares of the harvest, which can be customized depending on the individual’s needs. Payment plans are also available.
