n Friday, June 10, Conestoga resident Martha MacAdam will rappel from the side of the Holiday Inn, 26 E. Chestnut St., Lancaster. MacAdam has been a member of the Rotary Club of Lancaster South for about 15 years now, and this will be the second year in a row that she has volunteered for VisionCorps’ EyeDrop event on behalf of the Rotary Club.

Located at 244 N. Queen St., Suite 301, Lancaster, VisionCorps is a nonprofit organization that provides individuals who are blind or visually impaired with preventative, rehabilitative, and employment opportunities. The organization also helps lowincome families receive free eye exams, basic frames, and contact lenses. Funding from the community is what allows VisionCorps to continue offering these services, which is why the organization will
host another EyeDrop event this summer. Through EyeDrop, individuals can rappel down the side of the Holiday Inn building in exchange for fundraising a minimum amount for VisionCorps. Those who participate on behalf of a nonprofit, like MacAdam, can raise money for VisionCorps and their own organization. In order to rappel at the event, MacAdam needs to raise a minimum of $1,500 for VisionCorps, but if MacAdam surpasses
the minimum contribution amount, then that additional money will benefit the Rotary Club. Last year, she raised nearly $4,000. “It’s a terrific initial cause,” said MacAdam. “What VisionCorps does is important to the people who use their services, and it’s a muchneeded service. The fact that there’s an opportunity for the Rotary Club to benefit is another win for the community because whatever comes back to us, we turn out the door.” See EyeDrop 2022 pg 7
