Students Participate In Winter Warm-Up By Dayna M. Reidenouer

Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) was founded in 1920 in response to war and famine in southern Russia, which is present-day Ukraine. That began a century of providing humanitarian relief, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening peacebuilding efforts around the world. For many Lancaster County

Mennonites, “MCC” is synonymous with relief kits and knotted comforters. The students and staff members at the New Danville campus of Lancaster Mennonite School (LMS), 393 Long Lane, Lancaster, have assembled school kits and hygiene kits for refugee children as part of their practice of See Winter Warm-Up pg 3

Marcus Ortiz, a kindergarten student at the New Danville campus of Lancaster Mennonite School, and his mother, Yamelyn Ortiz, worked together to tie knots in a comforter on Jan. 24. The school campus participated in Mennonite Central Committee’s Great Winter Warm-Up and finished 20 comforters for global distribution.
