Kennett Symphony of Chester County will host its annual voice competition on Saturday, Dec. 15, at noon at Kendal at Longwood, Kennett Square. The competition is limited to 20 singers, who must be ages 18 to 26 as of Jan. 1. Applications and complete audition details are available at www.kennett symphony.org. Holiday Events Planned At St. Christopher’s Church By Marcella Peyre-Ferry

The joy of the Christmas season will be celebrated throughout the month of December at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Oxford. Planned events for children and adults are designed to get everyone into the spirit of the holiday. Breakfast With Santa will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Breakfast, including pancakes and sausage, will be served in the fellowship hall, where there will also be an activity center for children with coloring, games and crafts. Santa Claus will be in the sanctuary area, in a space decorated for Christmas that will be just right for photographs. Attendees may choose to purchase a photo with Santa to take home with them. Tickets will be available at the door, with breakfast available to both children and adults. There will be a per-family cap

on the cost for large families. “We want to make it possible for the whole family to come,” said the Rev. Mary Ann Mertz, pastor. “They’ll walk out with their tummies full and a family photograph with Santa.” A week later, people may enjoy taking part in a long-standing tradition at St. Christopher’s at its annual Cookie Walk on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. until noon or sold out. The Cookie Walk offers a place for people to obtain homemade holiday cookies without having to bake them at home. Members of St. Christopher’s congregation are preparing a wide variety of traditional and unusual cookies that will be offered for sale at a perpound rate. Containers will be provided for shoppers, who may stroll through the tables of cookies, making their selections. Many people buy cookies as gifts, and gift wrapping will be available. Lucky Dawg Rescue Seeks Live Nativity Will Tell Foster Families, Forever Homes The Complete Christmas Story By Marcella Peyre-Ferry

Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue, a nonprofit organization that rescues homeless, abused or unwanted dogs and cats, is currently seeking foster homes for rescued pets. People who are willing to provide a forever home for animals currently in foster care are also needed. Lucky Dawg Animal Rescue Inc. is an all-volunteer organization that was founded on Jan. 1 of this year. “We are brand new, and we have already adopted out over 80 dogs and approximately 40 cats,” said organization founder Mary Bauer. “We are all foster-based. All of our animals are learning how to live in a home before being adopted out.” She noted that some cats rescued by the organization but not in foster care can be adopted from Pet Valu stores, See Animal Rescue pg 6
