WFCS Will Host Auction, Falcon 5K, Fun Run/Walk By Marcella Peyre-Ferry

This year, the 36th annual West Fallowfield Christian School (WFCS) auction is being paired with the inaugural Falcon 5K and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk. The 5K and Fun Run/Walk will take place Friday, Oct. 19, starting at 5:15 p.m. Registration will begin at 4 p.m. on race day, or participants may preregister by Tuesday, Oct. 16, at www.wfcs.org/5K. All 5K entrants who preregister will receive a T-shirt and a fast-food chicken sandwich at the completion of the run. Fun Run participants have the option to preorder a sandwich when they register online. Individuals who are not participating in the run or walk may call the school office to preorder a sandwich for a fee at 610-593-5011. Those who register on race day for either event will receive T-shirts while supplies last. No sandwiches will be available unless preordered.

The 5K will be an out-and-back course on the road, with two slight hills and rural scenery. There will be awards for the topfinishing male and female, as well as awards for seven different age groups. The Fun Run/Walk will take place on campus. No pets will be permitted; however, children in strollers equipped to travel on grass are welcome. Proceeds will benefit the Academy at WFCS, a high school program that currently serves students in grades nine through 11 with a college-style program of classroom courses that supplement and support homeschooled students. This year, the Academy has added electives and a Spanish course. “(The Academy is) not as well-known as the school, so this is an opportunity to get some exposure for the Academy. It’s also drawing the community in as well as our patrons and alumni,” said Academy teacher Kendra Ridgway. See WFCS pg 5
