The POINT To Present “An Evening With Tim Tebow” By Francine Fulton

Sports celebrity Tim Tebow, a Heisman Trophy winner, former National Football League (NFL) player and current professional baseball player, will be the featured speaker at The Parkesburg POINT’s fall fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 10. “Get to The POINT: An Evening With Tim Tebow” will take place at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at the Octorara Junior-Senior High School, 226 Highland Road, Atglen. Tebow will discuss his book, “Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life’s Storms,” which details the highs and lows of his career in the NFL and offers practical advice from Scripture about dealing with life’s challenges. There will also be a question-and-answer period. Dwayne Walton, executive director of The POINT, is excited to have Tebow speaking at The POINT’s fall event. “Every year we look for someone special to bring to our community to tell their story,” he stated. “Tim will share his

personal story, as well as his faith journey.” “He will speak about the book, but he will also share the story of the twists and turns his life has taken and how his faith had carried him through this,” added Debbie Shupp, The POINT’s director of development. Tebow played three years in the NFL for the Denver Broncos and the New York Jets. Currently, he is pursuing a career in professional baseball as a member of the New York Mets organization. He also serves as a college football analyst for ESPN. Tebow is the author of two New York Times best-selling books, “Through My Eyes,” which was named the No. 1 sports and religion book of 2011, and “Shaken,” which was released in 2016 and was named the 2017 Evangelical Christian Publishers Association Book of the Year. Tebow was born in the Philippines as the son of missionaries and has returned to the Philippines many times throughout his life to spread God’s Word and to serve those in need. He established the Tim Tebow Foundation in

The foundation helps make dreams come true for children with life-threatening illnesses, builds “Timmy’s Playrooms” in children’s hospitals and provides life-changing surgeries to children of the Philippines through the Tebow CURE Hospital. The foundation also sponsors Night to Shine, prom-like events that are held worldwide on the same evening each year for people with special needs. Throughout the evening, Tebow makes special guest appearances at Night to Shine events around the world. Locally, a Night to Shine event is sponsored by Freedom Life Church. See Tim Tebow pg 2
