T
he Christiana Historical Society (CHS) will hold its annual Christiana Heritage Days event on Friday, Sept. 11, through Sunday, Sept. 13. The celebration will include music, food, historical displays, children’s activities and guided wagon tours throughout the town. Visitors will also be able to learn about the Christiana Resistance, a slave rebellion that took place 175 years ago on Sept. 11, 1851. “ That’s why we always have (Heritage Days) at that time frame,” said CHS member Patti Shrom. “We’re trying to make it extra special for families.” Activities will be centered around the William P. Brinton House, 17 Green St., Christiana, which is the CHS’s headquarters. Other events will take place within walking distance at the Christiana Freight Station, 10 Railroad Ave.; the Christiana Masonic Lodge,

This year will be the first Heritage Days celebration with the porch of the Brinton House accessible, as well as the inside of the house. “You can come on the porch, but we’re not completely done with
the outside,” said CHS member Charlene Ranck. “ There’s still windows, ceiling and painting here that still needs to be done, but it’s sturdy enough that we can have 50 or more persons out here.” The opening event will be on Friday, when the Barlee Red Band and the Days of Old Band will present a concert on the lawn of the See Heritage Days pg 3

Cornerstone Health to Hold “Celebrate Life Fest”
Gap Fire Company has a new addition to the family. On Saturday, Sept. 12, starting at 11 a.m., the company will host an open house and housing ceremony to celebrate its brand new 2026 E-ONE CR-100 Cyclone aerial ladder truck. Located at 802 Pequea Ave., Gap, the new truck will assist the allvolunteer fire company with its coverage of parts of Salisbury, Sadsbury and Paradise Townships.

Cornerstone Reproductive Health’s 12th annual Celebrate Life Fest and Walk for Life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at New Holland Church of the Nazarene, 428 R anck Road, New Holland. The event, formerly known as just the Walk for Life, will feature a 5K walk, cornhole tournament and a host of children’s activities. “It’s just encompassing more of that festival feel,” said Olivia Imchen, event organizer. “It had become more than just a 5K walk. … We wanted to incorporate all of that in the name, too, just to let people know that it’s a fun family event.” This year will be the third time the event has been held in New Holland. The annual event was moved in 2024 to be more central to the ministry’s service area. Bad weather mired the event’s maiden voyage in New Holland, but Cornerstone’s fortunes improved last year. “It wasn’t ideal, but it was definitely better than previous years,” Imchen said. “It rained the day before, but not the day of. The day of turned out to be pretty nice.” The walk and amateur cornhole tournament will both start at 9 a.m. Preregistration is required for the cornhole tournament and can be done online by visiting www.cornerstonesupporters .org/event/celebrate-life-fest/. Day-of registration will be available for the 5K walk. Registration by Thursday, Sept. 17, guarantees placement in the cornhole tournament,
