When local emergencies occur, first responders can be overwhelmed with the number of people in need of help. There is now an opportunity for community members to receive the training they need to help themselves and others during times of crisis. The Chester County Department of Emergency Services will offer a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course this fall at the Public Safety Training Campus, 137 Modena Road, Coatesville. This class is open to anyone who wants to learn how to be better prepared before, during and after an emergency. The course will take place on Mondays, Sept. 16 to Nov. 4, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9, from 8 a.m. to See CERT Course pg 9

All makes and models of vehicles will be featured on Sept. 8 at the Top Dead Center Motor Club’s 11th annual Drive Out Hunger Car Show and Food Drive to benefit the Chester County Food Bank. Those who take part in the upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) course will learn skills such as how to rescue a survivor trapped under fallen debris.
