Limeville UMC’s Blessings Store To Offer Free Clothing And More BY FRANCINE FULTON
Limeville’s Blessings, a store that will offer free clothing, hygiene products, basic household items and children’s toys, will open at Limeville United Methodist Church (UMC) on Saturday, July 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free ice pops will be provided that day, and there will also be a
gift basket fundraiser and children’s activities. “July 16 is our grand opening where people can come and check out the store,” said church member Rachael Woodring. “If you bring any kind of donation for the store, whether it’s toothpaste or loose change, you can get into a drawing to throw a pie in the face of pastor Dan Hall.” See Limeville’s Blessings pg 2
Octorara Field Hockey Team Sets Food Drive BY FRANCINE FULTON
embers of the Octorara Junior-Senior High School field hockey team will hold a food drive to benefit the Octorara Area Food Cupboard (OAFC) on Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dutch-Way Farm Market, 365 Route 41, Gap. Shoppers will be offered a list of needed items when they enter the
M
store, and they can then drop off their donations as they exit. The items that will be collected will be used by the OAFC to put together food bags for school-age children, which will help provide food for them during the summer months when school is not in session. The nonperishable food that the pantry needs includes canned pasta products, individual cereal boxes, granola bars, peanut butter crackers and toaster pastries.
Annual Tour To Highlight Local Gardens BY MARCELLA PEYRE-FERRY
“The food cupboard will have a trailer on-site, and they will come get (the donations),” noted parent volunteer Jenny Alexander of the Octorara Field Hockey Boosters Club, which is helping with the effort. Due to low supplies, the OAFC is currently in need of other groups willing to conduct food drives. For more information, call 610-857-4000 or visit www.facebook.com/Octorara AreaFoodCupboard.
The second annual Porches and Posies Garden Tour will be held on Friday and Saturday, July 8 and 9. Southern End gardens will be featured in the self-directed tour, which will benefit Chestnut Level Presbyterian Church. The first edition of the event drew visitors locally and from outside the area. “Some of us had the idea this would make a great community event,” said organizer Anna Mary Barcus. “I’m just really excited to do this again this year.”
