Leacock Presbyterian Church, 3183 Lincoln Highway East, Paradise, will offer a free hot meal to the community from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, in the handicappedaccessible Smith Fellowship Hall. The Christiana Community Ambulance Association will hold its second annual benefit auction on Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27, at the ambulance building, located at 55 Pine Creek Drive, Gap. Activities will begin on April 26 at 5 p.m. when the event will open for food sales. Items will include roast beef sandwiches, subs, hot dogs, fries, chips and beverages. There will also be a baked goods table offering tasty treats. The Friday night event will also provide an opportunity to preview many of the items that will be up for bids on the next day. New this year will be a silent auction for a variety of gift cards from local businesses and attractions. The silent auction will begin on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. and end at 11 a.m. on April 27. High bidders do not need not be present to win. The April 26 live auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a selection of home items, gift cards, crafts and more.

The live auction will begin again at 9 a.m. on April 27. The first group of featured items will include gift certificates from local businesses, restaurants and activities in the area, followed by home items, household décor, holiday decorations and housewares. Tools are expected to go on the auction block around 11 a.m., followed by furniture at noon and sheds and outdoor items at 1 p.m. “We have a really good mix of donations,” said auction chair Ashley Wright, emergency medical services (EMS) chief. Cash, in-state checks and credit cards will be accepted for payment at the time of sale. All items must be off the property by 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29. The buyers are responsible for the transportation of large items. Historical Society To Host Presentation Atglen Family Denistry Welcomes Dr. Myers On 1939-40 World’s Fair By Marcella Peyre-Ferry

Brett Snyder will make a presentation at the Historical Society of Salisbury Township meeting on Thursday, April 18, focusing on the 1939-40 World’s Fair. The organization’s meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Salisbury Township Building, located at 5581 Old Philadelphia Pike, Gap. Snyder explained that the first World’s Fair was the Crystal Palace Exposition held in London in 1851. Others followed throughout the 19th and 20th centuries in a variety of locations, but the 1939-40 See Historical Society pg 2

St. John’s Episcopal Church at Compass, 1520 W. Kings Highway, Gap, will hold Holy Week services. Services will begin at 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. A service will be held on Maundy Thursday, April 18, followed by a one-hour prayer vigil. Services will also be held on Good Friday, April 19, and Holy Saturday, April 20. An Easter service will be held on Sunday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m. and will feature special music. A light breakfast will be offered at 9 a.m. in the parish hall.
