Volunteers with the Friends group, which maintains and runs the Read Moore Book Store in the lower level of the library, hold several special events each year, which raise funds for library programming. In addition to the tea, the Friends sponsor spring and fall book sales and a plant and flower sale in May. The Friends reported that the spring book sale held on March 6 to 8 met its goal and raised enough funds to allow the library to host a program by Jesse Rothacker, The Reptile Guy, founder of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary.
