local church and as an Ethiopian sign language interpreter. After graduation, Gellila plans to attend college and major in global health on the pre-med track with hopes of becoming a surgeon. Jane is the daughter of Chet and Lauren Bowen of Lititz. At school, Jane is president of Student Council, president of National Honor Society (NHS), a Link Crew leader, a member of the Manheim Township Book Club, and a previous member of the Blue Streak Connections. She plays on the high school soccer team. Outside school, she is a member of the PA Classics Academy soccer team, is an EPYSA youth soccer referee, and volunteers as a senior altar server at her church. After graduation, she plans to attend college to major in biology and play soccer. She hopes to eventually pursue medical school through the Armed Forces.

Opening a food pantry was a topic of discussion. “When the pandemic hit, we had two things,” recalled Bitler. “We had the facility … (and we had) people who rose up for that (challenge).” Armed with opportunity, space, and willing workers, Mission Church opened a food

anheim Township High School (MTHS) held its annual homecoming celebration on Oct. 30. The homecoming queen, Macy Mosner, was crowned by 2019 homecoming queen Yasmin Nicholas during a ceremony held at halftime of the MTHS football game against Cocalico, which MTHS won with a score of 41 to 7. The 2020 Manheim Township High School homecoming queen candidates were Gellila Asmamaw, Jane Bowen, Madison Capizzi, Vivian Ealy, Olivia Jablonski, Chloe Kline, Macy Mosner, Scotland Reynolds, Kyra Rishell, and Sophia Schultz. Gellila is the daughter of Yohannes Tegegne and Tenadam Kassa of Lancaster. At school, Gellila is the president and founder of the Black Student Union.
