The Lancaster County Community Foundation will hold the seventh annual Extraordinary Give on Friday, Nov. 16. On that day, from midnight to 11:59 p.m., individuals may visit www.ExtraGive.org, choose from any of 500 local nonprofit organizations, and make an online donation. Thanks to the Community Foundation, the High Foundation, and corporate sponsors, all participating organizations will receive a prorated portion of the stretch pool, which will total at least $500,000. An additional $50,000 in prizes will be offered to nonprofit organizations throughout the day. New this year, individuals may support their favorite organizations through peer-to-peer fundraising. This will be the 10th year that the Manheim Township High School (MTHS) cross-country team’s booster club has held a 5K, but it will only be the second year that the event has included a nod to the holiday season by being dubbed the “Ugly Sweater Run.” “There will be an award for the runner in the best ugly sweater with the best holiday spirit,” said Jackie Fox, a member of the Manheim Township High School (MTHS) cross-country team’s booster club and a coordinator of the 5K. The 2018 fundraiser 5K race will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, beginning at 10 a.m. at the MTHS cross-country course, 140 Arena Ave., Lancaster. A 1-mile fun run for youths will be held at 10:45 a.m. There are fees to take part in

St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 Delp Road, Lancaster, invites the community to a Community Thanksgiving Eve Service on Wednesday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. Area pastors and church leaders will co-lead the service of thanksgiving, prayer, and giving. As part of giving thanks, there will be a collection of canned goods, which will be given to the Lancaster Council of Churches food hub. A monetary offering will be received during the service to benefit the Manheim Township reduced-cost and free lunch program. The GateHouse Promotes Addiction Recovery November is set to be a busy month for The GateHouse, whose mission is to restore the human spirit through recovery. On Nov. 1, the organization’s main office moved into the fifth floor of the Griest Building, 8 N. Queen St., Lancaster, and the office’s previous home at 817 N. Cherry St., Lancaster, is being converted into a center for behavioral health services. Members of the public may tour the new headquarters from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, as part of the Extraordinary Give.
