MTPA To Present “Almost, Maine” By Ann Mead Ash
When Mark and Beth Wagner, codirectors for Manheim Township Performing Arts (MTPA), first came across the play “Almost, Maine” by John Cariani in 2012, they fell in love with the show. “Choosing shows for the high school is a multi-layered process, and our decisions are based on many variables,” explained Mark, who added that 2012 was not the right year to do the show but that he and Beth put the quirky show on their wish list for a future season. In 2018, the pair decided the time was right. “Almost, Maine” will be staged at Manheim Township High School, 115 Blue Streak Blvd., Lancaster,
in the auditorium on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Nov. 15, 16, and 17, at 7:30 p.m. each evening. The concept of the play revolves around the idea that the setting is not quite real. The play takes place in the fictitious town of Almost, Maine, which is almost in Canada. Almost is not exactly a town because the residents never actually organized it as such. “The show has nine vignettes, which (each) stand on their own,” said Mark, adding See “Almost, Maine” pg 4
Members of the cast of the Manheim Township Performing Arts production of “Almost, Maine” include (clockwise from bottom) Annalise Prentiss, Yasmin Nicholas, Madi Capizzi, Bella Sisay, Michael Oster, Grant Dombach, Lizzie Plakans, Luke Mundorf, Xavier Cedeno Bravo, Mason Norris, Liam Roy, Mitchell Callais, Natalie Miller, Joey Eckman, April Marion, Frances Hightower, Ayush Iyer, and Victoria Vuong. The play will be staged at Manheim Township High School on Nov. 15, 16, and 17.

of relationship are obvious between the two, who will be performing a special fall concert at Lancaster Catholic High School (LCHS). “I used to have to say, ‘Michael, did you practice?’” said a chuckling Veri. “Now he says, ‘Mom, did you practice?’” “These Are a Few of Our Favorite Things,” a free concert in the round featuring Jamanis on violin and Veri on piano, will be held at LCHS, 650 Juliette Ave., Lancaster, on Friday, See “Favorite Things” pg 7

LCHS To Stage Interactive Mystery
The cast of the Lancaster Catholic High School production of “Murder’s in the Heir” has been practicing the interactive whodunit for presentations on Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 15 through 17, at the school. By Ann Mead Ash
When high school directors consider fall plays, their minds may turn to the possibility of staging a show with a healthy dose of suspense. “I was looking for a murder mystery comedy,” said Tracy Wagner, Lancaster Catholic High School (LCHS) drama director.
“Murder’s in the Heir” by Billy St. John met Wagner’s qualification, but the show also includes a chance for audience members to participate and help determine the outcome of the play. “It’s kind of like the game Clue, where every (character) has a weapon and a motive,” said Wagner of the drama, which will be staged at the See LCHS Play pg 6
