The Backwoods Bluegrass Band will be featured front and center in Servant Stage’s newest show, “I’ll Fly Away.” The fun and feel-good tribute to folk, bluegrass, old-time gospel music, and more will be performed on Sunday, July 22, at 5:30 p.m. at Boettcher House in Landis Woods. “This show has a lot of music that most people will find familiar,” said Backwoods Bluegrass Band member Adam Zembower, who plays guitar and provides vocals. “There’s something for everyone: old bluegrass tunes, new bluegrass tunes, amazing singers, funny one-liners, and so much more.” “I’ll Fly Away,” which is being performed at venues throughout the county this summer, features the bluegrass band, which includes fiddle, banjo, upright bass, harmonica, and guitars, as well as several guest features that will be different at each performance. The
guest features will rotate throughout the summer and will include wellknown local vocalists. Ric Zimmerman and Julie Keough will perform at Landis Woods. Additional performers will include Jon Knauss on guitar and vocals, Lance Yunkin on banjo and vocals, Rebekah Wimer on fiddle, and Gary Smith on upright bass. “We created this group called the Backwoods Bluegrass Band for a show back in 2014, and over the years, it has become one of our most requested ensembles for various gigs,” remarked Servant Stage executive director Johnathan Bauer. “They’re fantastic musicians, and the music is so fun. Audiences love the band’s enthusiasm and playfulness, and we decided it was time we crafted a full mainstage show for them.” Boettcher House, which is located in Landis Woods, can be reached by See “I’ll Fly Away” pg 2
