Civil Air Patrol Honors Cadets Civil Air Patrol Cadet Capt. Jurnee M. Acosta, Lancaster, has retired from the position of cadet commander of Jesse Jones Composite Squadron 304. She has served in command since Sept. 8, 2020, exceeding the standard 12month assignment recommended by regulations. A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to Acosta by her squadron during her last meeting in command on May 9. Due to a current shortage of cadet officers, the duties of cadet commander will be temporarily performed by the squadron’s deputy commander for cadets, a senior member position. Acosta has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Wing Cadet Advisory Council, where she will represent her squadron and Group 2. She will also continue as the squadron cadet recruiting officer and as an adviser to the deputy commander for cadets.

Celebrating Progress anny Millette, director of donor relations, is clear about what The Potter’s House will celebrate when it holds its annual pork roast this summer. “(We will celebrate) the progress we have made so far and the new horizons that are ahead,” said Millette, who pointed to four wooden stakes tied with bright orange plastic ribbons located at one end of the Still Waters campus. “See the stakes? Those are the dimensions of the building, which will hopefully be two stories plus a basement.” Back in 2018, when The Potter’s House held its annual pig roast at 261 School Lane, Brownstown,

The Fulton Forward Foundation, an independent, nonprofit private foundation funded by Fulton Bank, recently announced a $125,000 commitment to the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), a global educational nonprofit focused on bringing the power of entrepreneurship to youths in low-income communities. The funds, which will be provided to the organization over a four-year period, will be used to support NFTE’s Aspiring Entrepreneurs Program. This initiative provides students from underresourced communities throughout the Mid-Atlantic, which includes the Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Virginia regions, with access to the courses of NFTE’s Entrepreneurship Pathway and several key activities and components of

the NFTE student experience. According to NFTE CEO J.D. LaRock, students in the program will learn how to develop an original business plan for companies that can be launched in their own communities. Fulton’s grant and partnership with NFTE were announced at the MidAtlantic: Philadelphia Metro Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge on June 9 in Philadelphia, where student finalists pitched their businesses to a panel of judges. Fulton Bank president and COO Curtis Myers served as a VIP Finals judge and presenter at the event, which was co-sponsored by Fulton Bank. Also participating were Scott Snyder, a member of the Fulton Financial Corporation board of directors, and Smokey Glover, senior vice-president/retail sales leader at Fulton Bank.

Unique Antique Truck To Visit Lititz In 1985, a 1929 Chevy truck was put together using original parts from Texas. A 1930 Chevrolet engine from Christiana was restored for the vehicle, and in 1996, the truck took a cross-country trip, starting with the back wheels in the Atlantic Ocean in Sandy Hook, N.J. Nearly 60 days later, the front wheels touched the waters of the Pacific Ocean near Hollywood, Calif. On Friday, July 8, from 5 to 8 p.m., that 1929 Chevy, which is operated by a group called the Pennsylvania Hillbillies, will visit the Lititz Historical Foundation, 145 E. Main St., Lititz. The free event will feature one-of-akind photo opportunities. Since the trip across the U.S., when the unusual truck was used to raise funds for Lions Clubs International, the Hillbilly vehicle has appeared in parades and car shows throughout New
Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland, and it has won awards. The vehicle has also raised funds for veterans organizations, such as the VFW, American Legion, and Wreaths Across America. For a minimal donation, people have been allowed
to sign the truck. The truck has helped raise more than $40,000 in donations to Lions Clubs and veterans groups. While the car is at LHF, guided tours of the 1792 Johannes Mueller House will be offered for a nominal cost.
Tours will be given hourly from 5:15 to 8:15 p.m. Those who would like to know more about LHF may visit www.lititzhistorical foundation.com or search for “Lititz Historical Foundation” on Facebook.
