Red, White, And Blue Streaks 5K To Go Virtual
Runners took off on the Manheim Township High School stadium track at the start of the 2019 Red, White, and Blue Streaks 5K organized by the Manheim Township Educational Foundation. This year’s run will be a virtual event due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Rebels With A Cause
In 2018, Manheim Township Educational Foundation (MTEF) held its first Red, White, and Blue Streaks 5K and Fun Run. The goal for the run was to create a positive community event that would bring families together at the school. Organizers were pleased with the outcome, and they held the run again in 2019, maintaining its patriotic theme because of its proximity to Memorial Day and utilizing parts of the Manheim Township High School (MTHS) cross-country course. This year, response to the COVID-19 crisis, which has encouraged unity in practicing social distancing, inspired organizers to schedule a virtual 5K and Fun Run. MTEF asks those wishing to participate to run or walk the 5K distance of 3.1 miles or the 100-yard Fun Run distance between midnight on Sunday, May 17, and 11:59 p.m. on
MDS Coordinates Mask Effort By Ann Mead Ash
In early April, when Larry Stoner, Region 1 operations coordinator with Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS), 583 Airport Road, Lititz, learned that Bird-in-Hand Fabric, owned by Sylvan and Loraine Stoltzfus, had been creating masks for anyone who requested one in response to the COVID-19 crisis, he was moved to involve MDS to help. “They had been making them for about two weeks out of the kindness of their hearts, and they were giving fabric and getting elastic and (wire) for the nose (to others who were making them),” Stoner explained. Bird-in-Hand resident Manny Flaud, who is associated with the Lancaster MDS unit, knows the Stoltzfuses, and he contacted them on behalf of MDS. See MDS pg 2
