Noted Surgeon Will Present Talk
Cavod Academy in New Holland will hold several summer camp programs focusing on dance, acting, and more at Cavod Academy and at the Junction Center in Manheim.
John Hopkins surgeon Dr. Marty Makary will present a talk on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m. at The Trust Performing Arts Center, 37 N. Market St., Lancaster. The Row House is organizing the event. Makary is a Johns Hopkins cancer surgeon and serves jointly as a professor of health policy and management at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He has published more than 250 scientific articles, including articles on the surgical checklist, frailty as a predictor of surgical outcome, a survey to measure hospital safety culture, and contributions to surgical technique. Makary performed the world’s first series of laparoscopic pancreatectomies with islet autotransplantation and is the recipient of the Nobility in Science Award of the National Pancreas Foundation. Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, has slated the next installment of the Westminster Music Concert Series for the 2018-19 season. Jocelyn Crosby and Douglas Wimer will present “Vignettes for the Flute: A Night of Flute and Piano Music” in the sanctuary on Saturday, April 6, at 7 p.m. A freewill offering will be received during the intermission. 1290 Fruitville Pike, Lititz, will host a breakfast with the Easter Bunny and an egg hunt on Saturday, April 13, from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, including pancakes, sausage, and a variety of cereals, will be available by donation. Craft projects and games will be offered at no charge. Attendees are encouraged to bring their cameras along to capture moments with the Easter Bunny. Cavod Schedules Arts And Theater Camps By Ann Mead Ash
Creative individuals looking for ways to fill their summer days need look no further than Cavod’s many summer
camps. This year, Cavod, which was founded with the vision of raising the standard in godly artistic expression, will hold no fewer than six summer programs at Cavod Academy of the Arts, 665 W. Main St., New Holland, with one camp held at the Junction Center in Manheim.
For children ages 3 to 6 and 7 to 12, Once Upon an Arts Camps will be held in the mornings and afternoons from Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12. Camp for 3- to 6-year-olds will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, and camp for 7- to 12year-olds will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. On July 12, each camp will hold a See Summer Camps pg 6
Children’s Business Fair Slated
Providing Encouragement With “More Love Letters”
More than 60 young student entrepreneur businesses from schools across Lancaster County will be showcased at the second annual Lancaster Acton Children’s Business Fair on Saturday, April 6. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lancaster County Christian School, 2390 New Holland Pike, Lancaster. It

is free and open to the public. I n p r e p a r a t i o n fo r t h e e v e n t , children will create a product or service, develop a brand, and build a marketing strategy. They will open for customers at the one-day marketplace. The children are responsible for setup, sales, and interacting with customers. See Business Fair pg 7
First Reformed Church, 40 E. Orange St., Lancaster, will host “Organic Reflections,” a free, 30-minute concert, at 8 p.m. on First Friday, April 5. The concert will commemorate the 60th anniversary of the dedication of the vintage 1958 analog Allen organ at the church. Organist Larry Hershey will play music by the same composers selected by the late virtuoso organist Virgil Fox for the April 1, 1959, dedicatory concert.
