The Manheim Township Historical Society is partnering with Manheim Township Public Library, 595 Granite Run Drive, Lancaster, on a three-part genealogy series. The second session will take place on Tuesday, March 19, at the Manheim Township Public Library.

Lancaster Public Library reference librarian Philip Crnkovich will discuss the basics of conducting genealogical research. The program will provide an overview of resources available at the library, including Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, and U.S. Census records.

Refreshments and a meet-and-greet with the speaker will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the talk starting at 7 p.m.

In the 10 years since the Girls on the Run (GOTR) of LancasterLebanon council was founded, the organization has racked up some significant statistics. “We’ve had 12,800 girls cross the finish line,” said executive director Carrie Johnson, referring to both completing the program’s culminating 5K and finishing the GOTR 20-lesson curriculum designed to promote good choices for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. In addition, those teams completed 972 community impact projects. Currently, there is a team in every school district in Lancaster and Lebanon, and more than 90 teams will take part in the current session.

According to Michelle Harbaugh, one table at the annual Entertainers’ Swap Meet is reserved strictly for exchanges.

“It’s purely swap,” said Harbaugh, director of Steps to Success Early Childhood Education and Care in Leola. “The first year, we had a three-way swap. No money was exchanged, and everybody was happy.”

The bring-something-take-something table is just one facet of the Entertainers’ Swap Meet, now in its sixth year. This year’s event, which will be open to the public for the first time, will be held in the cafeteria of the Upper Leacock Township Building, where Steps to Success is located, at 56 Hillcrest Ave., Leola, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. Those who bring items to the meet may also buy and sell items. An auction will be held at 11 a.m. Tables, food, and

According to Noel Johns, human resources recruiter for the LancasterLebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU 13) Extended School Year (ESY) program, the summer program offers employment not only for special education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and nurses, but also for high school graduates who are considering going into the social work or education field. “We need people who have an interest and a heart and a love for working with students with special needs,” said Johns.

The leaders of Reality Church had been looking for a permanent facility for the congregation for three years when they learned about the vacant building that had previously held a franchise of a workout company. With a bit of creative thinking, the leaders knew that the 20,000-square-foot space at 2301 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, in Golden Meadows Park, would work well for the church.

Negotiations began in the summer of 2018, and worship services began taking place regularly in the new building during the first week of December.

“We redid about every surface inside. It was a completely awesome team effort,” raved lead pastor Joe Castronova. “Church members helped with the woodworking, decorating, painting, and more. The work’s not quite done, but we’re ready to open to the community.”

To celebrate the new facility and the ministry opportunities that have opened up as a result, Reality Church began a grand opening series on March 3. It will continue through Sunday, March 31. Each week has had a different theme relating to the overall theme of “It’s Not That.”

Castronova explained. “Jesus gets a bad reputation.”

On Sunday, March 17, “Stamp of Approval” will address the idea that to come to church, folks need to look, act, or think a certain way.

“No matter what we do, (Jesus) still loves us and accepts us,” said Joette Peters, director of ministry.

“Jesus is comfortable with me following Him even if I don’t believe everything about Him yet,” Castronova said. “Reality Church is quite comfortable with people having different backgrounds and perspectives.”

A chicken barbecue meal will be held after the 9 and 11 a.m. services on March 17.

Sunday, March 24, is part of the opening week of Major League baseball, so the theme at Reality Church will be “Three Strikes and You’re Out.” Assistant pastor Josh Simmons will deliver the message.

Ballpark-style snacks will be served during the services, and a hot dog buffet will be offered after each service. “ We focus so much on the rules, but the focus (should be) on our relationship with God. We can never strike out with God,” Castronova said. “On Sundays, we want people to encounter God in a personal way. It’s not just information.”

“We’re a hugely relational church,” Simmons remarked.

Reflecting on the school building where Reality Church had been meeting, he added, “We’re very appreciative of the school, but there was no lobby to meet in.”

The new facility has a spacious lobby with several seating areas, a coffee bar, and plenty of room for folks to gather to chat.

Youth and worship pastor Calvin Hoffman shared his appreciation for the opportunities to host fellowship meals and for people to connect. “(Now, our meeting space) is not an immediate construction zone following services (with volunteers packing up equipment to vacate the school),” he added.

The gathering space will be used for a fundraiser on Sunday, April 14. A Ghanaian-themed meal will be served after each service, with proceeds supporting a family that will be traveling to Ghana for a mobile medical mission.

After Easter, Reality Church will be examining ways to be more compassionate in the community and will be partnering with HOPE International. Small groups are forming and will study the quality of mercy.

On Sunday mornings, the children’s ministry offers programming for youngsters age 6 weeks to fourth grade during both services. Fifth- and sixth-graders meet during the second service.

Students in seventh through 12th grades meet at the church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday.

Energetic Band from pg 1 Lancaster Bible College (LBC), 901 Eden Road, Lancaster, will host Ranky Tanky, a high-energy band offering a blend of blues, jazz, and rhythm and blues, on Friday, March 22, at 7 p.m.

The band’s name comes from the West African language of Gullah. Loosely, the phrase translates to “work it” or “get funky,” a sentiment that is embodied in the band’s blend of music. Based in Charleston, S.C., the band released its debut album in October 2017.

LBC students will also have the chance to perform with the musicians of Ranky Tanky, as the college’s 50-voice chorale will provide backup vocals for the award-winning ensemble.

Wayside’s music director, Janelle Pabon, and its contemporary praise band, Grace Notes, will lead the congregation in singing favorite contemporary worship songs and some traditional pieces. Funds raised by the event support scholarships for girls who need financial assistance to participate in the GOTR program. More than 6,000 girls have received this assistance from the Lancaster-Lebanon program.

The atmosphere prior to a GOTR 5K is always unique because it includes pre-race primping for the girls, but this year, Johnson said that runners will see evidence of the 10-year celebration on T-shirts and through activities. The organization will also hold an Evening of Gratitude event on Friday, March 22, to celebrate those individuals who have contributed to the program’s success. “We just want to say thank you for making this possible,” said Johnson.

In early 2019, the council was informed that the group had been chosen from more than 200 other GOTR locations as the recipient of the GOTR PaceSetters Award. The award was given in the Game-Changing Relationships category based on a number of examples of ways GOTR of LancasterLebanon has built partnerships with community members and organizations. Among these are a two-year program involving nine Elizabethtown College students who have completed a service project with the program, and the production of the GOTR documentary “Run With Your Heart,” which was created in 2018. The program also worked with a local author on a book that is used to supplement the organization’s curriculum and has partnered with Penn Medicine/LG Health to showcase the GOTR participants in various presentations.

The curriculum and training session culminates in the GOTR spring 5K, when the participants complete a local course with a buddy. This year’s run will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Sponaugle-Williamson Field, Franklin & Marshall College, 415 Harrisburg Ave., Lancaster.

“We encourage the community to join us,” said Johnson of the run, which is open to the public and offers a fairly flat course in Lancaster city. The run will start on College Avenue and turn left on West James Street and then right on North Water Street. Runners will then turn right on West Lemon Street, which becomes Buchanan Avenue. Participants will proceed right onto State Street and go right again on West James Street. The course will turn left on Race Avenue before taking a left on West Clay Street. Monday, June 24, through Thursday, July 25, IU 13 will hold an ESY Job Fair on Wednesday, March 20, at the Conference and Training Center, 1020 New Holland Ave., Lancaster, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Most programs, which are based out of more than a dozen locations, run from 8 a.m. to noon on Mondays through Thursdays, but one location will hold a full-day program. Classes will not be held on Thursday, July 4.

According to Katie Schultz, ESY program supervisor, the program is for students determined to be eligible based on their individualized education plans and their local school district’s team. Students who are matriculating within the IU 13 go through a similar process. “Students who are eligible are selected for referral based on regression and recoupment skills,” said Schultz. “(Eligible students) receive instruction in areas where their teams have determined they need to maintain to be successful in the next school year,” she stated, adding that students in kindergarten through 12th grade and up to age 21 in certain circumstances will be served by the program. “We keep the (student’s) placement the same as during the school year, so if they’re in a selfcontained classroom, we keep that the same and by grade level and

location,” explained Schultz.

In 2018, ESY served 600 students, but Schultz noted that this year more than 1,000 students may take part because districts that previously ran their own programs have decided to partner with the IU 13. Johns stated that the expanded program will mean that increased staff must be hired. “To support the number of classrooms and students, we will need more than 400 staff members,” said Johns, who added that although a number of IU 13 staff members will probably sign on, more employees will be needed.

“It’s a nice summer job, and it’s an opportunity to get some experience,” shared Johns. “We provide a lot of training prior to the onset of ESY on working with students on the autism spectrum, those in multiple disabilities classrooms, first aid, and CPR,” she said, adding, “We make sure we have staff that is a mix of experienced with newer staff.”

“When I picked up the script (for a read-through), I laughed multiple times,” Promise Players community Christian theater group director Doreen Creighton said of choosing this spring’s play, “Mobile Home Sweet Home” by Pat Cook.

“There’s a lot of sarcasm, and Tim (Strawser) pulls it off very well.”

At the center of it all is Strawser’s character, Loff DuVall, who has run the Hampton Court trailer park with his wife, May June (Linda Ross), for more years than he

can count. Loff is hoping to take May June on a vacation to escape the zaniness of the residents. Vonell Rafferty (Laura Scott-Wise) tries multiple income schemes, the latest of which is searching for treasure with a metal detector. Lydia Spagway (Melody Risser) needs help removing her grandchild’s hand from where it is stuck in a toilet. Rhonda DeFalco (Wanda Jenkins) just wants to gossip, and Goose Halford (Ken Hess) tells long stories, such as how his grandpa has a metal plate in his head. “The kids used to catch him asleep and put ‘frigerator magnets on his forehead,”

Compounding the stress is a request from Loff ’s future daughter-in-law, Anne (Christine Tedesco), who wants to film a reality television show in Hampton Court. And, to add insult to injury, Etta Frobisher (Creighton) has it in for Hampton Court. “She’s being nitpicky and trying to find anything to get this shut down,” Creighton said of her character. “She’s bossy and hungry for power. She’s just a bully.”

Frobisher is not any kinder to her younger sister, Edith Maxwell, who is played by Creighton’s real-life older sister, Karen Ungemach.

Ungemach is also a volunteer at the organization that will be benefited by the proceeds from the show ’s performances.

Formed in 2016 in response to a need to go beyond offering emergency shelter, Elizabethtown Community Housing & Outreach Services (ECHOS) provides services to end the cycle of poverty while transforming the lives of families and individuals. Using the Housing First model, ECHOS assists individuals and families experiencing homelessness, at-risk of homelessness, or in need of services who are already connected with the Elizabethtown area, including Elizabethtown, Rheems,

Bainbridge, Mount Joy, Marietta, and Maytown.

“You have to be sympathetic (to the people we serve),” Ungemach commented. “I’m so fortunate to have a home, but in other circumstances I could be there (where our clients are).”

Compassion is key when interacting with folks in need, as well as with anyone in general, and that is a message that comes through in “Mobile Home Sweet Home.”

“It’s about relationships and not judging people,” said musical director Nancy Snyder, who will also appear in the show as Jennifer Crown.

“Mobile Home Sweet Home” will be presented at Lampeter Church of the Brethren, 1900 Lampeter Road, Lancaster. Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 28; Fridays, March 22 and 29; and Saturdays, March 23 and 30. Matinees will start at 2:30 p.m. on March 23 and 30 and on Sundays, March 24 and 31. The doors will open one hour prior to show time. Child care for preschoolers will be offered during the shows.

The Lancaster Contra Dance will take place on Saturday, March 16, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 321 W. Chestnut St., Lancaster, from 7 to 10 p.m. This is a group social dance for people of all ages with a different live band and caller each month. This month DeLaura Padovan will be the caller, and the band Devine Comedy will provide music.

There is no need to bring a partner, as partners are exchanged after each dance. A workshop for new dancers will be held at 6:15 p.m. There is an admission fee, with a discount for students. Group To Present Purimshpiel The Shaarai Shpielers will perform their 21st annual Purimshpiel, “HAME-an,” on Sunday, March 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Congregation Shaarai Shomayim, 75 E. James St., Lancaster.

The Purimshpiel is a comic production with participants wearing costumes that depict the characters in the story in the Book of Esther, the central text and narrative that describes what transpired on Purim and why it has become an important Jewish holiday. Each year the Shpielers take the songs from a particular American musical, parody the lyrics of those songs, and merge the themes of that musical

with the story of Esther. This year the musical is “Mame.”

The major roles are played by Elliot Sterenfeld (Mordechai), Josh Schwartz (King Achashveyrosh), Kevin Babione (Esther) and Melanie DeSantis (Haman).

The Lancaster Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is seeking applicants for the association’s 2019 scholarship award. It is available to U.S. citizens who are Lancaster County residents with a family member currently serving (or who has served honorably) in the U.S. military and who are graduating seniors planning to attend postsecondary education or are currently enrolled in ROTC while attending a postsecondary school.

Selection for this award is based on the individual’s scholastic record, extracurricular activities, and community service, with emphasis on demonstrated leadership abilities. The award will be announced in May, and the recipient and parents will be recognized at the association’s June dinner meeting.

Journey Of Hope from pg 1 Bethany Christian Services of Central Pennsylvania will hold “Journey of Hope,” its annual fundraising dinner and silent auction, on Thursday, April 4, at The Junction Center, 1875 Junction Road, Manheim. Appetizers and the silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dinner and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Christina Reese. She is a licensed clinical professional counselor and director of a mental health clinic. For more than 15 years, she has worked with children impacted by trauma.

Reese recently published “Attachment: 60 TraumaInformed Assessments and Treatment Interventions Across the Lifespan.” She travels nationally, educating and training therapists and mental health professionals on how to work with children in therapy and traumainformed classrooms.

Reese adopted her then-14-

year-old daughter from Albania through Bethany Christian Services. As a single mother, Reese found that beginning to parent a daughter who was already in her teenage years was challenging but also held many rewards as their family developed. The family grew again when Reese married two years later. Reese shares both professionally and personally about the struggles and joys that adoption brings.

Irish Band Will Perform Irish band Goitse will perform on Sunday, March 17, at 3 p.m. at The Ware Center, 42 N. Prince St., Lancaster.

The multi-award-winning quintet was forged in Limerick’s Irish World Academy. It was named Live Ireland’s Group of the Year and Chicago Irish American News’ Group of the Year, and it won the Freiburger International Leiter 2016 award in Germany. Goitse is recognized as a leader of the new generation of traditional Irish ensembles.

Goitse (pronounced “go-witcha”) has released four recordings and maintains a year-round touring schedule that includes performances throughout Ireland and the U.K., Germany, France and the United States. Their own

Irish band Goitse will perform on Sunday, March 17, at The Ware Center in Lancaster.

For the first time in its 67-year history, the North Museum Science and Engineering Fair will take place in the Student Memorial Center at Millersville University, Marauder Court, 81 Shenks Lane, Millersville. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, March 14.

The event will showcase projects from more than 325 Lancaster County students in seventh through 12th grades. Student scientists will compete for cash prizes as well as invitations to other science fairs, such as the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). The grand champion of the science fair will attend the ISEF with his or her family courtesy of North Museum.

This year, the ISEF will take place in Phoenix from Sunday, May 12,

School Hires Theater Director Lancaster County Christian School (LCCS), 2384 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, has hired a new theater director who has local theater experience. Holly Wert and her cast are currently preparing for their upcoming spring musical, Disney’s “Peter Pan Jr.,” which will be presented on Thursday to Saturday, March 14 to 16.

Wert, whose daughter Stella is in first grade at LCCS, previously directed LCCS’ performances of “You Can’t Take It With You” and

“Our Town” and assistant-directed “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “The Three Little Pigs.”

Wert has performed in the Lancaster area for more than a decade with theater companies such as Sight and Sound, Fulton Theatre, Servant Stage, and Opera Lancaster. She has also worked on many solo and ensemble projects, most recently in the ongoing concert tour “Then Sings My Soul,” and performed “CLASSIC: A Concert in Soprano” at the Trust Performing

“It is fun,” shared Harbaugh.

“It’s (a gathering of) musicians, face painters, jugglers, clowns, and circus (performers).” Harbaugh added that in the past entertainers have brought musical instruments, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, and even all the apparatus to perform as a disc jockey. “Those who have large illusions (to sell) may bring photos of them,” noted Harbaugh.

Each year, organizers ask participants, who come from four states in addition to Pennsylvania, what steps might be taken to improve the event. Based on suggestions, the auction portion was added last year, and this year the public is being invited.

“Anyone who participates in the auction may donate a percentage (of the money they make to Steps to Success),” said Harbaugh, who added that funds raised will be used to purchase

Students competing in the science fair have worked on their projects since the fall of 2018.

The museum’s volunteer judges include more than 100 local science professionals, teachers, and scholars. The judging will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the public is welcome to attend the fair for free from 4 to 6 p.m. to view the student projects. The awards ceremony, also free of charge, will take place immediately after the public hours, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Pucillo Gymnasium, 125 Pucillo Drive, Millersville.

The American Legion Riders group at Post 429 will host a St. Patrick’s Day dance at the Ephrata American Legion, 300 Cocalico St., Ephrata, on Saturday, March 16, from 8 to 11 p.m. Doors will open at 7 p.m.

The Lancaster Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) will sponsor a concert, “Bach and Bonhoeffer,” at Lititz Church of the Brethren, 300 W. Orange St., Lititz, on Sunday, March 24, at 4 p.m.

The program, featuring internationally acclaimed organist Felix Hell, will combine the organ music of J.S. Bach with the poetry of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Narration will be by local pastor Bob Kettering.

A native of Germany, Felix Hell has been featured as a recitalist and concerto soloist in more than 900 concerts around the world. He holds positions at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Manhattan, the United Lutheran Seminary in Gettysburg, and the Sunderman Conservatory in Gettysburg.

The church is handicappedaccessible. The concert is not a ticketed event, but there is a set suggested donation per person to support the Lancaster Chapter of the AGO. The public is invited.

Junior League Plans Health Fair The Junior League of Lancaster’s (JLL) 2018 New Member Class will host a free Health and Wellness Fair on Saturday, March 16, at Lancaster Country Day School, 725 Hamilton Road, Lancaster.

Held in tandem with the JLL’s annual Run4Luck, the fair will feature local vendors and health organizations. Heart Gallery from pg 1 Friendship Community will host its annual Friendship Heart Gallery Art Auction on Thursday, March 28, at Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences, 850 Greenfield Road, Lancaster. The night will feature silent and live auctions featuring 45 works of art created by artists with intellectual disability and autism. The silent auction and an opportunity to meet the artists will begin at 6:30 p.m. The live auction will start at 7:30 p.m.

All of the artwork being auctioned was created by people with intellectual disability and autism. The art is created at the Friendship Heart Gallery Studio - a program of Friendship Community - on North Water Street in Lancaster. Artwork that will be auctioned will include watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media.

Friendship Community is a

La Academia Partnership Charter School (LAPCS) recently received a $3,000 grant for its esports club from the Emerald Foundation. The grant will provide operational assistance to La Academia’s enhancement of its esports club. Esports is competitive, organized video gaming, and competitors from different teams face off in the same games that are popular with at-home gamers.

The Emerald Foundation, in strategic partnership with the Samueli Foundation, has launched and academic after-school club initiative in Pennsylvania through the North American Scholastic Esports Federation (NASEF). La Academia is one of 12 high schools primarily in Lancaster County and in central Pennsylvania that have recently launched esports clubs. La Academia’s esports club, called

Wood Earns Eagle Scout Award Aaron Wood, 13, of Lititz achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on Nov. 19, 2018. Aaron is the son of Mike and Jessica Wood and the brother of Adam and of Alex, who is also an Eagle Scout.

Aaron started his Scouting career in Texas and then continued it in Guam before joining Troop 84 in Neffsville.

To attain the rank of Eagle, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle project. Aaron’s Eagle Scout service project benefited Green Meadow Farm in Leola. Green Meadow Farm offers individualized mentoring opportunities to children and teenagers struggling with

trauma or emotional difficulties. With the help of his troop, Aaron made a picnic table and mulched an area under two trees where parents and other family members can sit and relax while their child is spending time with the horses.

Aaron is an eighth-grader at Manheim Township Middle School, where he is a member of the cross-country and track teams, swim team, concert band, jazz band, AV Club, and Odyssey of the Mind program. He has also been listed on the first honor roll and has participated in County Band. He is on the equipment squad for the high school marching band, which he plans to join when he enters ninth grade.

Program Grants The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) will accept applications for grants to fund programs that discourage and reduce underage and dangerous drinking and promote a message of responsible alcohol consumption by those of legal drinking age. Eligible grant applicants include Pennsylvania school districts and institutions of higher education, including technical, trade, and postsecondary establishments; community organizations; municipal police departments; municipal officials/representatives; and nonprofit and for-profit organizations.

The grant cycle is for one year from July 2019 through June 2020. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis with a maximum award of $20,000 per grantee. Applications will be received and evaluated by the PLCB’s Bureau of Alcohol Education, with awards made subject to availability of funds. Grant applications are limited to one per organization, school, municipality, or institution of higher education.

Service Ministry Trips Scheduled We’re All God’s Children (WAGC), a local nonprofit ministry, will accept registrations for its 2019 service ministry trips. Teams are being formed to visit Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota, El Salvador, and Zambia. Individuals who have considered participating in a short-term mission trip are encouraged to join a team. People of all ages, from teenagers to seniors, are welcome to apply.

The first trip, scheduled from Saturday, July 20, through Sunday, July 28, will be to Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota - home to one of the poorest counties in the United States. The program will work with the Cheyenne River Youth Project and Takini School to reach the youths on the reservation. This trip will focus on workshops for children of all ages, introducing

them to new ideas and combining fun with education.

A trip to El Salvador will be held from Sunday, Aug. 4, to Saturday, Aug. 10, to conduct a children’s soccer camp, along with continuing last year’s Bible studies.

The ministry also hopes to partner with a U.S.-based youth soccer program to obtain donations of used cleats, balls, goals, and other equipment.

A two-week mission trip to Zambia, Africa, will be taken from Friday, Aug. 2, to Saturday, Aug. 17. WAGC has been working in Zambia since 2010 and has established strong ties with the villages it serves there.

Organization Founder Visits School Resurrection Catholic School received a visit from Gerald Ganse, creator of the Catholic Education Foundation (CEF), on Jan. 29. Following a ceremony to thank school supporters, Ganse met the students who had been awarded tuition assistance grants from CEF, specifically from the Dr. Albert J. and Mrs. Ave Marie (Butz) Schreder and Family Fund.

Grant recipients included Antonio Garcia, Niang Kim, Emilly Settle, and May Settle.

Kim, a seventh-grade student, was born in Myanmar. Her first language is Tedim, and her second language is Burmese. She said she likes Resurrection because it

provides daily opportunities for her to learn about God in a safe environment.

A firm belief in the value of Catholic education led Ganse, a retired pharmacist, to form CEF to help students like Kim. The four-year-old independent nonprofit raises money for tuition assistance. Tuition was not a barrier to education for Ganse, who attended St. Joseph School and Lancaster Catholic High School in the ‘50s and ‘60s, and he wants to help provide the same opportunity for today’s children in Lancaster.

The dental centers are one of the ways CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health strives to improve the overall health and well-being of children and families in the Lancaster community. Manheim Township School District March MT School Board Meetings The March School Board Work Session will be held on Thursday, March 14th at 7:00 pm in the District Office. On the agenda for the Work Session is a presentation by Remington Vernick Engineers to start planning for the district’s future plans to address student growth. The March School Board Voting Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 21st, at 7:00 pm at the District Office. Agendas are posted on the website the week of the meetings.

MT School Board Saturday Morning Conversations The MT community is invited to attend the next Manheim Township School Board Community Conversations on Saturday, March 16th from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the District Office. Community Conversations are held on the Saturday morning between the School Board Work Sessions and Board Action Meetings. Members of our community are invited to attend. The April Community Conversation will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

2019-2020 Kindergarten Registration is Open!

If your child will be 5 years old on or before August 31st, 2019, they are eligible to begin kindergarten at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. The first step in the process is to complete and submit the online portion of the registration located on our website under Student Registration. After the online registration has been submitted, the second step in the process is to make an appointment and come to the district office with the required documentation. The online registration will indicate the documents that are needed to register your child. After completing the online registration, please call 717-569-8231 to schedule your appointment with our enrollment office.

MT High School Hosts Successful MiniTHON On Friday, March 1, the MT High School hosted its ninth annual miniTHON to support the Four Diamonds Fund. A record number of 640 high school students attended the mini-THON held overnight from 6:00pm Friday night (3/1) through 6:00am Saturday morning (3/2) in the high school gymnasium.

The evening raised a total of $134, 304.76 for the Four Diamonds Fund, adding to last year’s (2018) impressive donation of $117,732.20. A grand total of $762,039.77 has been donated to The Four Diamonds Fund from MTHS students in the last nine years!

MT Astronomy Club Star Watch Planetarium Open House The Manheim Township High School Astronomy Club is hosting a Star Watch every month during the school year. The event will be rain or shine. The times are different for each event due to the hour for which sunset occurs.
