GOTR - A Decade Of Impact Spring 5K Scheduled
The Lititz Woman’s Club will sponsor Spring Fever Bingo on Sunday, March 24, at the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. Doors will open at noon, and bingo will begin at 1:30 p.m. The event will feature 20 games of bingo, along with special games and a giveaway drawing. Food will be available. GENEALOGY SERIES
The Manheim Township Historical Society is partnering with Manheim Township Public Library, 595 Granite Run Drive, Lancaster, on a three-part genealogy series. The second session will take place on Tuesday, March 19, at the Manheim Township Public Library. Lancaster Public Library reference librarian Philip Crnkovich will discuss the basics of conducting genealogical research. The program will provide an overview of resources available at the library, including Ancestry.com, Heritage Quest, and U.S. Census records. Refreshments and a meet-and-greet with the speaker will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the talk starting at 7 p.m.
In the 10 years since the Girls on the Run (GOTR) of LancasterLebanon council was founded, the organization has racked up some significant statistics. “We’ve had 12,800 girls cross the finish line,” said executive director Carrie Johnson, referring to both completing the program’s culminating 5K and finishing the GOTR 20-lesson curriculum designed to promote good choices for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. In addition, those teams completed 972 community impact projects. Currently, there is a team in every school district in Lancaster and Lebanon, and more than 90 teams will take part in the current session. But for Johnson, the impact goes

According to Michelle Harbaugh, one table at the annual Entertainers’ Swap Meet is reserved strictly for exchanges. “It’s purely swap,” said Harbaugh, director of Steps to Success Early Childhood Education and Care in Leola. “The first year, we had a three-way swap. No money was exchanged, and everybody was happy.” The bring-something-take-something table is just one facet of the Entertainers’ Swap Meet, now in its sixth year. This year’s event, which will be open to the public for the first time, will be held in the cafeteria of the Upper Leacock Township Building, where Steps to Success is located, at 56 Hillcrest Ave., Leola, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. Those who bring items to the meet may also buy and sell items. An auction will be held at 11 a.m. Tables, food, and

According to Noel Johns, human resources recruiter for the LancasterLebanon Intermediate Unit 13 (IU 13) Extended School Year (ESY) program, the summer program offers employment not only for special education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and nurses, but also for high school graduates who are considering going into the social work or education field. “We need people who have an interest and a heart and a love for working with students with special needs,” said Johns.
