Berks Dog Search Reunites Lost Pets With Their Owners BY FRANCINE FULTON
Helping to reunite lost pets with their owners is the goal of Berks Dog Search, an all-volunteer organization that has been operating in Berks County since 2013. Through its Facebook page, the group posts information about lost and found dogs, and it provides free informational flyers that dog owners can post in their neighborhoods. In addition, Berks Dog Search sends out volunteers to help find lost dogs by utilizing trail cams and by setting Scott Wallace, a local dentist, was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Twin Valley Community Education Foundation.
TVCEF Virtual Gala Recognizes Community Leaders BY FRANCINE FULTON
or the first time, the Twin Valley Community Education Foundation (TVCEF) held a virtual gala and fundraiser on Nov. 6 to announce the winners of the 2020 Community Leadership Awards

The event was originally scheduled to be held in-person, as it has been for 18 years, but the TVCEF board of directors made the switch to a virtual event and online auction this year due to COVID-19 and restrictions on indoor gatherings.
The gala is available for viewing at www.tvcef.org/annual-gala.html. The 2020 virtual gala ceremony video, hosted by Twin Valley High School (TVHS) senior Steven Armstrong, was created by Tanner Findley, TVHS senior and videography student.

Tax Preparation Program Seeks Volunteers BY FRANCINE FULTON
Reza Ardekani from Azer Scientific Inc. earned the Special Recognition Award for COVID-19 Relief Efforts from the Twin Valley Community Education Foundation.
The Twin Valley Community Education Foundation presented the Community Educator Award to Twin Valley High School teacher Lance Chappelle.

Twin Valley High School student Kyle Haddock was presented the Rising Star Award by the Twin Valley Community Education Foundation.
One of the programs of Life Transforming Ministries (LTM), a local nonprofit organization, is to provide free tax preparation and filing for low- and moderateincome households, people with disabilities and those with limited English proficiency through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Currently, LTM is seeking volunteers to help people in need with their income tax preparation.

The Facebook page was started by Susie Olsen and Diane Sereny, who are page administrators, along with other Berks County residents. The organizers met through dog rescue organizations. Olsen explained that pet owners should not panic and call for a search party to try and look for their dog when it first goes missing. “The first thing is to make sure the dog has access to come home. Open the gate, put out food and water and keep lights on at night,� Olsen said. “Do not flush the area with big search parties. If the dog is skittish, they will not come to a stranger. A dog will tend to stay local if people are not chasing it. They usually go in a circle. They start coming around and, believe it or not, a lot of them find their way home.�
