The Elverson Garden Club will meet on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the Crow’s Nest Preserve, 201 Piersol Road, Elverson. Guest speaker Michael Bowell will educate on how to create an arrangement using whatever is in season. The club’s annual flower show will take place at Heatherwood Retirement Community on Saturday, Oct. 13, from noon to 4 p.m. The theme is “Moonstruck.� The club members will also work on a display to enter in the Philadelphia International Flower Show. 3200 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, will hold a Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 6, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include a community yard sale. A fee will be charged per space. The deadline to reserve a space is Sunday, Sept. 30. Yard sale setup will begin at 8 a.m. Breakfast sandwiches will be served beginning at 9 a.m., and the event will also include a baked goods sale. Chicken corn soup will be sold by the quart. West Nantmeal To Celebrate Community Day By Francine Fulton

West Nantmeal Township will celebrate its second annual Community Day on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at West Nantmeal Township Community Park, 455 N. Manor Road (Route 82), Elverson. Event organizers said that last year’s inaugural event was a huge success and that even more activities are planned for this year. Starting off the festivities at 9 a.m. will be the “Stoke the Furnace� 5K walk/run and 10K run, followed by a free children’s fun run at 10:15 a.m. More details about the 5K and 10K can be found at www.pretzelcitysports.com. A new attraction this year will be guided wagon tours provided by the West Nantmeal Historical Commission, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Tours will be offered at noon and 1:30 p.m. Those interested in participating are asked to preregister at 11 a.m.; seating is limited. See Community Day pg 4

The West Nantmeal Township Historical Commission will present “Stoke the Furnace,� featuring a 5K walk and run and a 10K run as part of the township’s Community Day celebration on Saturday, Sept. 29. Registration will open at 8 a.m. in the West Nantmeal Township Community Park, 455 N. Manor Road, Elverson, and the races will begin at 9 a.m. There will also be a free fun run for children in the park at 10:15 a.m. The 5K and 10K will take participants by several ponds and past historic stone homes and over centuryold stone bridges that cross the Brandywine River. The New Holland Farmers Day Association Fair, also known as the New Holland Fair, will be held from Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Saturday, Oct. 6, throughout downtown New Holland. This year’s fair will feature a parade, a midway, exhibits, food, and competitions for students who have raised sheep, goats, and swine.
