Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show Set For Labor Day Weekend By Francine Fulton

Starting September 2, this paper will be in your mailbox every other week.

The Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show on Labor Day weekend will feature hunter, jumper and equitation divisions.

Despite the fact that spectators are prohibited, the Ludwig’s Corner Horse Show will take place on Labor Day weekend. The 77th annual horse show will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, through Monday, Sept. 7, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Ludwig’s Corner Fairgrounds, 5 Nantmeal Road, Glenmoore. The 2020 show is restricted to riders, trainers, owners, grooms, officials and essential support staff members. Junior riders may bring one parent. In order to comply with state COVID-19 guidelines, there will be no horse stabling this year, no Country Fair component and no vendors. The car show, which is traditionally held at the fairgrounds on Labor Day by the Historical Car Club of Pennsylvania, has been moved to Sunday, Sept. 13. Throughout the horse show weekend, competitors will practice social distancing and wear masks according to rules established by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). “While we are not a USEF-recognized competition, we are following USEF best practices at the show,” stated Wendy Silverwood, who handles social media and the horse show prize list. “This crowd already knows to do that, as these (practices) have been See Horse Show pg 4

It comes as no surprise that we continue to face many of the challenges we have experienced over the past six months. Who hasn’t used the word “uncertainty” more times than they can count? Despite this uncertainty, we have worked hard to keep our families and community safe while providing positive, creative ways to reinforce that we are in this together. We encourage you to continue sharing your stories and connecting with us on social media so we can go on spreading all the good we see in this world. At Engle Printing & Publishing Co., Inc. (EPC), we are committed to making adjustments within the current circumstances to try to continue to regularly provide you with the community news you expect to read in this paper. “I grew up using this library. It was an important part of my childhood,” said Crescenda Long, who was recently named the new director of the Boone Area Library in Birdsboro. “Now that I can come in for other generations of kids is a great thing for me. I am very excited about it.” Long became the full-time library director on July 7 after having worked in the building since late January as a library aide and then a library assistant. “I noticed that they had a position open and I (applied),” she said. “(Working at the library previously) really helped me know it was someplace I wanted to stay. It is easy to step in the job when you have a good relationship with the people who are already there.”
