Nicole DeWald of Birdsboro, a 2022 graduate of Daniel Boone High School, recently participated in the Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen pageant held during the 80th annual Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival in Wellsboro. Nicole, who was named Miss Daniel Boone earlier this year, took part in a variety of events at the festival, which is named after the state flower. Nicole, the daughter of Pete and Kathleen DeWald, said that as a representative of Daniel Boone and Berks County, she traveled the farthest out of the 26 Laurel Queen candidates. “It took us about four hours to get there. It’s right near the New York border,” said Nicole, who was accompanied to the event by her parents and Miss Daniel Boone Nicole DeWald recently took part in the Pennsylvania grandparents.
