The Twin Valley High School (TVHS) Class of 2025 held its graduation on June 7 during commencement ceremonies held at the Santander Arena in Reading. The event included performances by the school’s orchestra and senior chorus, a review of the students’ accomplishments over the past four years and remarks by student speakers and administrators.
The class valedictorian was Ashley Siv, the daughter of Kok Siv and Linh Diep, and the salutatorian was Shea Schwabenbauer,
the daughter of Jim and Kristin Schwabenbauer.
Shea provided the opening remarks. “Today marks a major milestone in our lives and celebrates the countless moments that have brought us here,” she said. “As we celebrate today, it’s important to recognize that this moment does not belong to the Class of 2025 alone. It also belongs to every parent, teacher, friend and mentor who supported us along the way and helped us reach this point. To the people behind the scenes - our guidance counselors, cafeteria workers, office staff, bus drivers
and all those whose efforts often go unseen - thank you.”
TVHS principal Bill Clements listed some of the achievements of the class, noting that students earned distinction at both the state and national levels through their involvement in clubs such as the TSA, HOSA and the FAA and that senior class musicians earned placements in honors ensembles at the county, regional and state levels.
He also noted the achievements of the theater arts club and the visual arts club, career and technical education students, and

When Route 10 opened on June 6, 1925, a celebration was held, which included a parade that traveled through the towns along the roadway. To commemorate that event and celebrate the roadway’s 100th anniversary, a group of car enthusiasts, led by Parkesburg resident Jeff Hery from the Delaware Valley Region, Classic Car Club of America, recreated the road’s opening celebration on

audience is people getting close to retirement or are currently in retirement, but it’s open to all,” said Elliker. “Even when you are 25 and you are working, you’re thinking about retirement at some point.”
Elliker will cover the general basics of financial planning. “The number one question that I get asked by people is, ‘When can I retire?’” he noted. “We look at all your information and say, ‘When do you want to retire, and can we get there based on your current information? If you can’t get there, where do you want to go?’”
He added that there will be a time for general questions and answers. “Retirement is complex,
and there are a lot of decisions to be made, and people want to have some level of confidence as they are walking into retirement,” Elliker added. “That is what this seminar is about. There are topics you need to be aware of and information you need to know.”
Elliker is planning to present future financial programs at the library in July and August. Specific dates and topics will be announced at www.facebook .com/VillageLibraryofMorgantown.
The Village Library is located at 207 N. Walnut St., Morgantown. Those with questions may call 610-286-1022 or email Donahue at smolibrary@gmail.com.
The Chester County commissioners have announced the start of projects resulting from recommendations generated through Innovate
Chester County. The Innovate Chester County firstphase projects will support children’s mental health services; veteran resource communication; affordable housing; and the county’s community transit service, Chesco Connect.

TVHS student-athletes.
“They’ve broken numerous school records and earned multiple individual medals and recognition, including All-League All-State, All-American and Academic All-American,” he stated. “Their hard work, determination and skill led to team championships in various sports over the past four years, including cross-country, field hockey, football, lacrosse, tennis, track and field and volleyball.”
He noted that seniors planned spirit weeks, homecoming events and the prom; organized collections for local food banks; held holiday gift drives for children; raised funds for area charities; and volunteered their time to clean up roadside litter.
He credited the TVHS Mini-Thon Club for its work to raise money for the Four Diamonds organization.
“This class was offered
over $14 million in merit aid and scholarships from colleges and university; that’s the highest total on record at Twin Valley High School,” he reported, adding that 54 TVHS graduates will enter the workplace; 183 plan to continue their education at colleges, universities or technical schools; and several graduates have enrolled in ROTC programs or will attend military academies.
Secretary Angel Altringer and treasurer Carmelo Medina also provided remarks and announced the senior class gift, which is repainting the foursquare court of the senior lounge and purchasing benches to be placed outside the gymnasium entrance.
Class speaker Dakota Paton presented a talk with the theme “Caught in the Middle.” “When we hear the phrase ‘caught in the middle,’ it often comes with the negative connotation like being stuck, pulled between two forces or lost in the shuffle, but if we really pause and look closer being in the middle is actually a privilege,” she said, noting that she is one of nine children in her family. “We’re standing on the bridge between who we were and who we’re becoming, and it’s both exciting and terrifying. We get to remember where we came from while we are reaching for what comes next, and we carry the past while shaping the future.”
Superintendent Robert Scoboria also provided advice to the students. “Don’t stop working when you’re tired; stop when the task is done,” he said. “Surround yourself with people who inspire you to be better and do the right thing all the time, not just when others are watching.”
“As you take your next steps, never forget where your journey began,” added Gary McEwen, president of the Twin Valley Board of School Directors. “Twin Valley is your foundation, and no matter where life takes you, it will always be your home.”

June 7 by holding a parade of vehicles that traveled along Route 10 from Morgantown to Oxford.
The parade of cars, led by Hery in his 1971 Pontiac LeMans, began at the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown and traveled along Route 10 to Oxford, where participants enjoyed lunch at the Oxford Hotel. Each car was provided with a Route 10 anniversary magnet.
All car owners were presented with a map of the original parade route and a copy of a booklet that was given out that day in 1925. The booklet features ads purchased by local business owners, and it detailed activities that were held along the parade route.
“Originally, when they did it 100 years ago, every town had some activity,” said Hery. “They played a baseball game in Parkesburg and had a shooting contest.”
According to the booklet, attendees paid 25 cents admission to the baseball game between Parkesburg and New London, with a grandstand admission of 10 cents.
The booklet notes that a portion of Route 10 was originally a Native American trail. “The booklet has a history of the whole Octorara trail and the history of every town,” Hery noted. “It has advertisements from all the businesses from 100 years ago.”
Towns along the route that took part in the celebration included Plowville, Honey Brook, Compass,

Beginning in late 2024, the work groups conducted research and formulated suggestions for the commissioners, the county administrative team, and the steering committee.

Parkesburg, Cochranville and Oxford. Among the advertisers in the booklet was the Hotel Parkesburg, which offered “a good place to eat and a clean place to sleep”; the Chester County Automobile Club, which was “always active in road improvement and caring for the interests of motorists”; and ads from local politicians, including A.H. Swing, who was running for the office of Chester County controller.
There was also an advertisement for an ox roast offered on the day of the celebration in Parkesburg, which read, “immediately after the return of the parade from Oxford, the committee will begin to serve ox roast sandwiches and coffee until the entire supply - about 2000 pounds or one ton of meat - is exhausted.”
According to a history of Route 10, the road begins in Oxford and passes through rural areas of western Chester County, including Cochranville, Parkesburg, Compass and Honey Brook. The route passes through a small corner of eastern Lancaster County before it enters Berks County
and reaches Morgantown, where it interchanges with Interstate 176.
Members of the Delaware Valley Region, Classic Car Club of America also plan to participate in the 250th
anniversary celebration of when Gen. Marquis de Lafayette visited Chester and Lancaster counties this July. To learn more about the club and its activities, visit www.dvrccca.org.
