Family Fun Day, featuring hayrides, a moon bounce, face painting, crafts, games and more, will be held at Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines, 1710 Ridge Road, Pottstown, on Saturday, June 15, from noon to 4 p.m. The rain date will be Sunday, June 16. All proceeds will benefit Ryerss Farm, a nonprofit organization that is home to 80 retired and rescued horses. Horses that retire at Ryerss are never ridden or worked again. The day is an opportunity to visit with the horses that call Ryerss home, including its newest resident, Jax. Jax, a bay pony gelding, was born in 1994 and came to Ryerss Farm for his retirement on April 9 from Watchung Stables in New Jersey. Jax worked as a school

horse there from 2012 to 2018, teaching mostly beginner riders. Jax was always a favorite among the young students because of his sweet personality. Because of his sway back, however, he could no longer be ridden. “Over time, their backs weaken and dip down,” explained Joelle Temoyan, Ryerss’ administrative manager. She noted that since Jax will never wear a saddle again, his condition is no longer painful. Today, he is enjoying his retirement at Ryerss. In addition to the horses, visitors can meet Ryerss’ standard donkey and two miniature donkeys, pet them and take photos with them. Those who have a favorite animal may purchase a pin or a magnet with the animal’s photo on it in the Ryerss gift shop, which will be open throughout the event offering See Ryerss Farm pg 10

Family Fun Day at Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines on June 15 will feature face painting, a bounce house and hayrides. Proceeds from the event will benefit the 80 rescued and retired horses that reside at the farm.
