Local Yard Sale To Benefit Mission Work In Senegal BY FRANCINE FULTON
purchase made at a yard sale in Elverson will benefit children who live across the world in Senegal, Africa, as part of the seventh annual Senegal Yard Sale to be held on Friday and Saturday, June 17 and 18, beginning at 8 a.m. at the home of Jill and Michael Edelman, 2449 Ridge Road (Route 23), Elverson. Mike and Jill are missionaries with Global Training Network (GTN), an organization that trains pastors and other Christian leaders around the world. All proceeds will be used to help expand the “Light of the World” Christian school in the village of Baback through the construction of two classrooms for fourth- and fifth-grade students. Shoppers will find a variety of items at the upcoming sale, including antiques, lamps, artwork, furniture,

Jill also oversees a child sponsorship program. “It’s for kids whose parents do not have the money to send their children to school. I try to add 10 or 15 kids every year in each village,” she explained. “These are kids that would not be going to school if they did not have a fund provided. The (program provides) the kids with backpacks and school supplies. Parents (of sponsored children) have to agree to have their children go to kids’ club, (where) they play games, eat a snack and listen to Bible stories.” Donations are being accepted for the yard sale until Wednesday, June 15. Those who have items to donate should contact Jill at mjclek@aol.com prior to dropoff. All donations must be clean and in good working condition. Items that will not be accepted include books, with the exception of children’s books; clothing; large pieces of furniture, such as sectionals or armoires; old televisions, with the exception of flatscreens; and VHS tapes. Cash donations will also be accepted during the sale. Volunteers are needed to help set up the sale from Sunday, June 12, through Thursday, June 16, and on the day of the event, as well as for cleanup chores on June 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. Unsold yard sale items will be donated to local nonprofit organizations, including Morgantown ReUzit Shoppe and Steeple to People in Honey Brook.

Honey Brook Concert Series To Open With Rizzetta’s Tones BY FRANCINE FULTON
Honey Brook Borough will begin its 2022 Concerts in the Park series on Sunday, June 12, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. with a performance by Rizzetta’s Tones, a Celtic-American band that performs on unique musical instruments such as silver flutes, whistles, an autoharp, a Greek bouzouki and a button accordion. We get beautiful things donated,” said Jill. Jill and Mike became missionaries as members of Calvary Fellowship Church in Lionville. Mike served as the pastor of prayer and groups at Calvary Fellowship in 2007 until joining GTN in December 2020. “I have gone (to Senegal) at least 10 times, and my husband has gone 24 times. He has been going for 18 years,” Jill noted. “Now, with Global Training Network, we will be going a minimum of four times a year for three to four weeks (at a time).” The school in Baback was established through a partnership between the church and with Mission Inter Senegal. “Baback is one of two villages that have been adopted by Calvary Fellowship Church,” said Jill.
