Visitors to the Daniel Boone Homestead on Saturday, April 27, will be able to follow all the steps that were required to process wool in the 18th century - from shearing sheep to weaving the wool - during the annual presentation of Sheep
and Fiber Day. Events will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will be able to start the day at the barn, where the site’s resident sheep will be sheared. The sheep’s wool will be washed, and the wool will then go through the picking process, which is a task done to remove debris that does not come out during the washing. “This is done by hand,” explained Daniel Boone board member Anne See Sheep And Fiber Day pg 5

When nursery teacher Dawn realized that Sherry, the mother of one of her students, was on the verge of homelessness, she connected her to Bridge of Hope @ Good Samaritan Services (GSS).
The program saved Sherry, the mother of four, after a family conflict jeopardized their living arrangement. Through those essential two years, Sherry learned budgeting skills, was promoted in her fulltime work and found permanent See Golf Outing pg 9
Sherry (left) received a Certificate of Achievement after graduating from Bridge of Hope @ Good Samaritan Services’ two-year program. She was congratulated by Christy Stoltzfus, the family resource coordinator who worked with her.
