Those who enjoy the Thanks-A-Lot Girl Scout Cookie will only have this year to purchase the fudge-dipped shortbread cookie. The cookies, which are embossed with a thank-you message in one of five languages - English, French, Mandarin Chinese, Swahili and Spanish - will not be available in 2021, after being sold by Girls Scouts nationwide for 15 years. “We don’t have a new (cookie) this year, but it is Thanks-A-Lot’s last year,” said Rebecca Goldman, a member of Girl Scout Senior Troop 1441 in the Twin Valley Service Unit. “The baker always likes to try out a new flavor. Monica DePaul, director of the upcoming musical production of “Cinderella” at Cavod Theatre, admits she has not always been a fan of fairy tales in recent years. “They were fun when I was 8, but now I want to watch a girl who has dreams beyond the prince,” mused DePaul. Fortunately, the 2013 Broadway revival production of “Cinderella” gave DePaul a heroine with depth. “We still have a prince and a love story, but there’s self-discovery for Cinderella in this version and friendship and forgiveness,” said DePaul. “Even with a modern retelling, it doesn’t lose that old-fashioned charm.”

Classes, free workshops and exhibitions are some of the programs offered by the Chester County Art Association (CCAA), a nonprofit organization with the goal to “educate, inspire and connect” the people of Chester County through the arts. “(The CCAA) is all about promoting the arts, creativity and creative thinking,” said CCAA executive director Wendy Kershner. “I think our world always needs more creative thinkers and creative problem solvers. We are (providing) a really good service.”
